Downgrading Review
* Update April 2014 * I hate to do this but have to downgrade my review. You'll have to check to see where these bowls are made now. They used to be made in the U.S. but now some (if not all) Anchor Hocking glass is made in China. Quite a disappointment (for me) because the USA-made factor was the primary reason why I used to seek out Anchor Hocking products. Original Review: When I recently replaced a set of old, chipped mixing bowls, I wanted to go with American-made, durable, solid glass. I chose an inexpensive 3-piece Pyrex set but ended up very frustrated with the sloped sides and the associated splattering I got whenever I used my hand-held electric mixer. Christmas baking was the last straw. I ordered this Anchor Hocking set for 2 reasons - 1) It's made in the U.S.A., and 2) the sides are much steeper than in the Pyrex sets. I am thrilled with my purchase and am using these bowls for everything now. *** Helpful Hint July 09 *** - This set doesn't come with the larger 4 qt. bowl, but you might be able to find it at Big Lots for a mere $5. Also, I kept my smallest Pyrex bowl with the sloped sides because I sometimes set it over a pan of water to double-boil/melt chocolate for recipes. The sloped sides give it the shallowness needed for double-boiling, but for EVERYTHING ELSE I use the Anchor Hocking bowls. *** Update March 2012 *** 5 years later and still one of my best purchases EVER. These heavy bowls have held up beautifully to the abuse they get in my kitchen. *** Update May 2013 *** 6 years later and I thought I'd add that these bowls may not be ideal for arthritis-sufferers. When these bowls are stored inside one another (as they are designed to do) they are quite heavy and it takes a decent amount of hand strength to nest and un-nest them for use. I'm noticing it more the older I get but there's NO WAY I'm trading in these bowls for plastic or stainless steel just yet!

Great response to a fa
This is exactly what I was looking for to replace my worn out set of plastic mixing bowls. I do A LOT of baking and love the more square shape when using my hand mixer. I see lots of hours of use in these bowls for years to come. The best part of it all? When they arrived, the largest one had a big chip out of it. I put in for a return/exchange and received a replacement set of bowls two days later, before I'd even managed to return the damaged set. Loved the response time on these!!! Would so order again in a heartbeat!

These store and stack well in the cupboard
We are challenged for space up in the top cupboard; my wife initially had me order the Corning bowl set (with plastic fitted covers)....she likes to use them for refrigerator storage whereas I don't like the fact that I can't see what is contained in the bowl (from the top view). The issue/problem with the Corning set is they all have pyrex rims, which add another 3/4" diameter to the bowls....space we can't spare. I gave the corning set to my daughter - these stack and store much better (and I prefer "saran wrap" stretched over their tops so I can see what is stored in the refrigerator).

I love this set!
I owned an Anchor 3-piece set from 40 years ago. It's always been AWESOME, but I recently gave the set away to a person in need - so I ordered this new set for myself (to replace the set I gave away). I LOVE IT! :-) It's still just as good as the one I'd had my whole adult life! :-) Can't live without it. :-)

Used them in oven as a Dutch oven , smaller one inverted over the other, 450 degrees no problem. Don’t set on wet dish cloth when out of oven, it will disintegrate. Duh!
