Deze Beckett Fountain Pond Pump Kit is ideaal voor kleine waterpartijen. Low-profile, quiet, auto-off feature

About 20 years ago, when our daughter was about 3 years old, she became enamored of a 3-foot high copper and wood fountain we saw at the Three Rivers Arts Festival (which we locally tend to call the Three Rivers Rain Festival). We got it for her and over the decades we've had multiple different pumps for it, on the order of five. This is by far the best. First, it is low profile, so that when the pool runs low it doesn't suck air as quickly as all the others we've had. Actually, it doesn't suck air at all, as if it starts sucking air it turns itself off. Secondly, the flow adjustment on all of the others was on the inlet, and hard to adjust while the pump was running. At least not without the risk of it becoming disconnected from the outlet tube and spraying you and everything in the vicinity with water. The control is on the outlet tube. Finally, it's fairly easy to remove the grid over the inlet; we keep an aquarium filter cut to size in it. We pull it out and rinse off the green bits that tend to clog it every couple of weeks. And we can do it without accidentally disconnecting the outlet and getting a faceful of water. I got a second one to keep as a spare just in case they quit making this model.

Good transfer pump

Bought in the beginning of January as a transfer pump. I like that it has slim foot print and turns off when the water isn’t above its sensor. In general it’s a good pump and does the job that I need it for.

Does not last

I ordered one in March 2022 and it died in June 2022 ordered another in July and it died January 5 of 2023. It runs in my fountain for eight hours a day 24 seven thought it would last longer than this

Lasts far longer than those without an internal shutoff.

This the second pump like this that I have bought through Amazon. The first lasted over three years which is a record for fountain pumps for me. The automatic low water shutoff feature keeps the pump from running dry which is what kills small pumps like this. I highly recommend it.

Is this pump really worth it, we don’t know yet!

We have had three of the identical models for a birdbath pond in our backyard. The first device lasted and worked as expected. The second device included a new feature where when water was not flowing through the pump, it would automatically turn off. The problem with that feature was that it had a “side effect“ involving if there was an electrical spike or the power went off for either a second or for a longer period, the pump would not come back on. You had to actually take the cover off and use a screwdriver or something to start the impeller. If you didn’t start it underwater, the feature immediately stop the pump from running. It was a huge pain. It appears that that “feature“ has been removed from the most recent, but same, model which I assume was because The manufacturer was getting lots of complaints. This is a well-known manufacturer with sales on Amazon, as well as Home Depot, and other Internet and retail stores. I rated this product mediocre because of our experience with the prior version. That “feature“ no longer appears on the packaging or in the information contained with the pump so we hope that this current model will perform as expected.

Our Pump Hates Sunlight and Dirt

We have owned and run this pump for less than two weeks. PROS: 1. Auto shut off works great when it runs low on water 2. Water height can be adjusted to low level (we are using it in a small bird bath and can't use a pump that is significantly strong.). CONS: 1. Bizarrely and inexplicably, our pump shuts off when exposed to sunlight. It works great at night and with diffused light (i.e. cloudy days), but it stops running when it is hit by direct sunlight, even if the pump is fully submerged with clean water. On a partially cloudy day, the pump will oscillate between on and off depending on if the sun is shining on it at that moment. No one else has commented on this problem, so I don't know if we have a freak, or if others haven't noticed. We have ordered a solar-powered pump to complement this one since the solar kind only work when there is direct sunlight. 2. Water and pump interior must be kept very clean for pump to work. We are using it in a small bird bath, so it is easy to change the water once or twice a day and to hose out the interior of the pump. However, our pump would never work for an exterior fish pond or large fountain.
