Very comfortable!
So I bought this coat along with the Columbia Mighty Lite to try them out side by side and ended up liking this one a little better for the following reasons. I love the fleece in the hood. I like the thickness of the coat, it's light but not too light. It's made very well. I like the nylon sleeve thumb holes. They add a very nice touch and definitely keep out any drafts. Here are a few things I don't love about the coat as well as some critiques/suggestions. I don't like the zipper. It's a left-handed zipper for one, which I had read in the reviews but had never tried one. It was very hard to figure out and I still don't always get it zipped on my first attempt. Essentially you don't need to align the left side all the way down to the 2nd zipper head. Just put it in the first one and struggle for a few seconds and then zip it up. My husband spent about 5 minutes working with it breaking it in before showing me how to do it. The zipper head (pull up part) on the other coat was much more sturdy, and I really liked the felt material on the inside of the zipper that actually zipped up to my mouth to keep my lips warm and soft. I ordered the XS in both coats and this one allows me to wear several layers like a sweater with a puffer vest and still have room to sit and move. The other one was more hour glass shape which I liked, but I was only able to zip it over one sweater and it was still a bit snug around my waist when zipped. So ordering that one in the next size up S which is a 4-6 would definitely have been too big. Adjustments to make for future models: Please PLEASE add fleece to the bottom foot of the INSIDE of the coat so that our legs can stay warmer when we are walking in super windy conditions, but leave the silky material on the outside so it still looks like a nice coat. I really think this would be an amazing addition. Please add more material to the portion that zips up to the face so that it covers the mouth without having to crame your neck down into the coat. Also, add something to help the warm fleece hood stay on! I shouldn't have to freeze my hand to hold the hood in place when it's super windy. Add like 2 inches of fleece or soft felt material to the inside of the zipper part that touches the mouth instead of cold silky material. Also make all of your colors the same price.... I wanted silver but it was $140, the very last beet red in my size was only $79. I'd buy more colors if your prices were more consistent. I realize this review looks like I have a lot of negative to say about the coat, but I still love it! I wear it every day I just wish it had a few more features to make it the #1 perfect coat. For reference, I'm 5'1" 100lbs petite and the XS is still roomy.

Good I guess but I returned it
I’m in the search for the right winter coat for my lifestyle. This one was thin, probably still warm but it was smaller in the shoulders as others mentioned. Sleeves weren’t as long as I desired. Zipper wasn’t as sturdy as I preferred either but not a bad coat.

I bought the dark cherry color. It looks very purple in person to me, and I thought about returning it, but I'm so glad I tried it on first. It's fantastic, and while the color wasn't what I expected, I'm warming up to it. I'm 106-108 lbs., 5'2". I purchased the XS. It has tons of room in it to layer (and at first I worried it'd be too big), but—visually—the fit is very flattering and surprisingly fitted for how much I can layer under it. This will mean I could probably use it in weather that is colder. As it is, I suspect it would be fine down to 20F without much (or any) layering. This is a versatile coat that can be worn to an upscale event, but it can still look awesome worn over casual wear just going out to a movie night with friends. As someone with Raynaulds and arthritis (and hates lugging around gloves), I'm always a fan of Columbia's coat cuffs with thumbholes. These did not disappoint. They feel comfortable. They are a little longer than others I've had in the past, but since they are stretchy that's no big deal for me. They fit well around my wrist or hands—depending on how I want to wear them and they don't look too long because of this once I put the coat on. A lady who is tall and has trouble finding jackets with long enough sleeves would probably the longer length of the hand warmer cuffs to be an advantage, but it works very well for us petite ladies, too. The zipper is a bit problematic. You have to take time to make sure it's very well seated before zipping it up. I expected this from other reviews and have had jackets like that in the past. Over time, I'm hoping careful zipping will "train" it to move better. I may try rubbing a candle along the teeth to see if it will work better. I'm very glad to have found this on sale. I look forward to wearing it this winter and know it will look just as beautiful for future winters hopefully when we can safely go back to events.

Best investment ever
I was hesitant to buy a coat this expensive (I paid $150) in a climate that rarely gets below 40°, but I’d had it with trying to play in snow comfortably with my kid in a pea coat. This coat is the most amazing thing ever. I literally logged on to Amazon just to leave this review. It is so warm, so lightweight, so comfortable, just amazing. The zippers are YKK, so high-quality, and almost invisible. Pockets and hood are warm and fuzzy, and the sleeves have thumb hole fabric extending out past the coat sleeve edges, so that you can eliminate the sliver of wrist between your glove and your coat sleeve that always seems to find snow. It squishes down small enough to fit in a regular backpack but comes down past my bottom and has a roomy, fuzz-lined hood. My only plea, and this is not specific to Columbia or this coat, is that more clothing manufacturers should acknowledge the existence of the petite plus-sized person. I love my coat, but I have to reach a bit to get to the pockets because it’s too long in the torso for me. I am 5’ tall and purchased a plus size because I need the plus cut more than I need the petite cut, but for this coat to have literally been the coat of my dreams, it would have been available in a petite plus size so the pockets would have been closer to where my hands fall. But in the search for a cute, warm, water-resistant, lightweight winter coat, far-away pockets are a small sacrifice. This coat is a miracle.

Fabulous Frosted Purple
I ordered one Chalk and one Purple Frost. Both are gorgeous in colour. Chalk is like ivory/slightly down-tone just as described. Purple Frost is more like warm Lavender (as seen). It’s outstanding. Goes beautiful with ivories, greys, neutrals. Fit is close although slightly bigger than regular size allowing for heavy sweater underneath. I bought a 2X for a sweater and a 1X for a T- shirt. Roomy or close? Your choice. Regarding other reviews: this is a LIGHT-WEIGHT, THIN coat, perfect for jeans or running about. Haven’t tried it at cold temps/walking the dog..etc..I suspect it will be perfect for up to -10 C with a sweater. It looks really great. Many compliments.
