The Perfect Shirt

I needed a shirt exactly like this. I thought about what would be the perfect shirt to protect me from the sun and mosquitoes. It would have to be super light weight because I get hot easily. It would have to be super comfortable because I get uncomfortable easily. I searched Amazon and found this shirt, ordered it and am now absolutely loving it. Because of other review recommendations and because this shirt is fitted, and because I have long arms and large hips, and because my intention is to wear this shirt over tank tops and such, I sized up to Large although Medium would be my normal size in tops. The Large is perfect (I am about a size 10 on top and a size 14-16 on bottom.) This Columbia Tamiami II shirt is even better than what I thought up in my head as the perfect shirt. It is vented in the upper back. The snaps down the front and on the sleeve cuffs are so much better than buttons because it is so easy and quick to open and close. There are 2 zippered pockets on the left and right bottom - Wow! It is fitted so gives a woman a fashionable look. It even has a bit of a stretch to it. It is so light and comfortable, you barely even feel it against your skin. The shirt is a bit see-through (at least, the white one is) so I don't think it is best for wearing without anything underneath. You might even get away with wearing this to the office with a camisole or tank top underneath, either buttoned up, or with some buttons (actually, snaps) on top unbuttoned for a layered look. I would say, because of the pockets, this shirt is better suited for not being tucked in. If you like this shirt but are looking for something that has a relaxed fit instead, or if you are on the XL size, consider the Columbia Sportswear Women's Bahama Long Sleeve Top instead. I love the Bahama top as well and wear that one in my normal size of Medium.

Exceptional summer sun protection shirt! Fabric is SO soft!!

Columbia Women's Tamiami is my very favorite shirt for summer sun protection, and I have many shirts to compare it against. I'm in the California sun a lot and prefer long sleeves to protect my skin. I bought this shirt in 4 colors as it is the most comfortable, coolest, softest, most flattering of all my sun shirts. The fabric and fit are exceptional!! CAUTION: the fit of the 2017 Tamiami II is what I'd call "athletic" - so it's a slim fit. I usually wear a Medium, unless the top is labeled "Athletic Fit", which is code for "tight". I bought one Tamiami II in Medium, and it is very flattering, but a little tighter than I normally would wear. However, the fabric is soft a little stretchy, so I actually really like this fit. I bought 3 in Large, and the 2017 version Large is a generous-but-not-overly-loose fit. I also bought one in Dark Lime, which is not a color that Columbia shows on their website right now - I think it may be a previous year's color? That shirt in Large is much bigger. So I wish I would have ordered the Medium in Dark Lime. Also, the White is VERY transparent - I don't mind as I usually wear a tank top under it, but I wouldn't wear it over just a bra.

Silky and flattering, with zippered side pockets

In the Columbia Tamiami I needed a large, but the Columbia Bahama in medium fit great! Same brand, but different styles. I kept both. The Bahama has a more cottony feel that I like slightly better than the Tamiami, but I like the fit and the two nearly hidden zippered side pockets in this one. Sleeves on both were long enough! Overall length could have been a bit shorter on both, but that's just my preference. Update: After 2 weeks on Lake Powell, the Tamiami was my “go to” of the two styles because of the zippered side pockets that the Bahama lacks. Ordering another!

Runs a little small

Really like this fabric and the style is smart. I am normally a JJill medium but when I bought this in Lsrge (it’s not a stretchy fabric), it was tight across the busy. XL replacement was perfect.

Light and protective

Living on the water and boating sun protection is a must, this one of my favorite sun shirts. It fits really well, it’s light not hot or stick and it has two hidden pockets.
