Very sharp, and with just the right graters.

Box graters can take up a lot of room but I hang this from my pot rack and that works well. I got tired of all the graters I bought that weren't sharp enough or didn't have the right kinds of graters. This is very sharp, has a good selection of graters, and the plastic ginger grater at the bottom keeps the cheese inside the grater until you are ready to use it. I have not tried the ginger grater but it looks like it would be OK, but it's still excellent as a base to keep the gratings inside the grater while you are using it. It's a little pricey but I think it's worth it.

DO NOT ignore the warnings on the sharpness of this tool. That said, it is AMAZING. I love the mandoline side: perfect thickness for salad veggies. Well constructed, washes easily in the dishwasher. Sturdy handle

You'll sacrifice some finger tips and it's worth it

Will you permanently lose part of your finger tips? Yes. Is it worth it? Also yes. Well built, quality product, that gets the job done - hard or soft cheese, shredded carrots, beautifully sliced cucumbers, you name it. We've tried multiple options, from several brands (single function, multi function, a-stand style, planer style, etc) and this wins. When making Italian for dinner, grate the parmesan THEN open the wine. And I'd love a recommendation for knife gloves.

micro-planes of many sizes!

Each side has a different spacing and thickness of typical very sharp micro-planes, except one size is a mandoline-style single blade, and another side is holes with sharp spines around each hole, to grind very hard cheeses (parmesan, etc). The many micro-planes are very effective for veggie and soft-cheese clean shredding... excellent!

This is the real deal!

This item is no joke—Not just ceramic mandolin sharp...this is seriously surgical instrument sharp. Respect and enjoy the process of using this for the intended purpose. If you rush...and are not wearing a cut proof glove...you will enjoy the bleeding edge of a failed meal prep. Highly recommended for those that embrace the cathartic beauty of meal preparation. ...take your time and enjoy every sandwich—(a nod to a David Letterman/Warren Zevon interview) easy to use and to clean....completely satisfied with this purchase...although my bandaid purchase has increased as well...did I mention this is a real deal sharp kitchen appliance?

Feels Good, Works Well, Easy to Clean

This is my second one. I used it at home and I cook a lot at another location, so I bought one for that house, too. It's a lot easier to clean the hex-sided grater without scraping yourself--and to really get it clean. I knew this one works well while grating and feels good to the hand. I like the bottom that will trap the food as you grate it, if you want. Sometimes I just use it in a bowl without the bottom "cap" on.

Very nice...

This box grater is very good. Each of its sides grates, shreds, or slices beautifully. The cut-outs are very sharp, and the removable, sturdy base fits well and snugly, but is easy to remove. Shredding cheese goes quickly with this large, sturdy, very stable grater. And, it is super easy to clean. It's large, but that's not a problem--I just store it in a cupboard with other gadgets. The handle is sized well and is sturdily attached to the body. I am a woman with fairly large hands, and the handle is comfortable for me. Even my son, who has very big hands, finds this grater comfortable and easy to use. This is a well-made product with attention to detail. I can highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for an excellent box grater.

So sharp!

Very quick grater with lots of useful patterns. Extremely sharp, but I guess it wouldn't work as well if it were dull. I haven't cut myself yet, I think you just need to treat it with respect and be really careful. I've used it for parmesan (which came out like candy floss!), carrots, apples, fennel so far. Really really good.

Very expensive for a box grater

That being said it is one that will last a life time. It is really razor sharp, already had one run in with my fingers, beware people, sharp is good just pay mind. I like that there are more than 4 choices and was very happy with the bottom that attaches, easy to put on and take off and no need for a bowl under the grater and no slip. Highly recommend.

first of all let me say this is an excellent product, and one correction, it is dishwasher safe, top rack as most things these days and it wrongly states not suitable for dishwashers. blades are extremely sharp and on xmas eve as i was entertaining i was in a hurry to grate cheese, i grated a bit of skin as well and i was bleeding. i do not blame the grater as it has to be sharp and it has to do what it is supposed to do fast due to its ability to work for you. maybe i should invest in special guard gloves. next time i order something it will be on my list.
