Little water dispersion, cold shower
The Delta RP28599 is an attractive, small, light weight shower head that has no adjustments and does not draw attention to itself like some of the large, adjustable shower heads do. All of holes are the same size and are around 1/32” in diameter. The pencil thin streams of water are comfortable between 45 and 55 PSI water pressure and do not feel like needles trying to penetrate your skin. The shower head has a standard range of swivel. This shower head produces a “cold” shower. Small diameter streams of water cool very quickly while getting to and passing over your body. In addition, the 2.5 GPM flow and a minimal water spread don’t provide complete coverage. The holes in the shower head are contained within a 2” diameter circle. At 12” from the shower head, the water has a 4” diameter spread, 5” at 20”, and 7” at 30” from the shower head. With this minimal spread, you don’t get full coverage over your body. The spread measurements are easy to make since there is little change in trajectory and minimal dispersion of the individual streams over the first 20 to 30” of travel. Raising the water temperature to warm water on lower half of your body does little beyond burn your shoulders. I have not removed any flow restrictor, if one exists. I suspect that within normal limits the flow is already maxed out by the size and number of the holes. Simply increasing the amount of water available to the head by removing a restrictor probably won’t do much without increasing the water pressure. Unfortunately, flow and pressure changes will not alter the narrow water spread. Delta advertises this as a “Push - Clean” nozzle. If you look carefully at a picture of the nozzle, the holes are actually in small rubber tips. In the lab I am sure you can flex the tips with your fingers to remove a restriction. In the real world, if your water has a high concentration of minerals and or particulate, I am not sure how long before minerals build up that cannot be easily dislodged. Cleaning the tips with your fingers while the water is running will send water spraying in every direction. The “cold” shower may not be an issue if you or Mother Nature keeps your bathroom warm. The concentrated spray easily rinses shampoo out of my hair and soap off of my body without wasting water by spraying the walls of the shower. Since I own the shower head, I will use it for a while to determine if I become a fan, but I plan to leave the Speakman S2252 in my Amazon cart. 1/25/18 update - Out of curiosity I attempted to remove the flow restrictor. The first picture shows the gray, plastic debris collector, Delta Part Number RP43621. That collector easily screws out of the fitting. Once the debris collector has been removed, the green flow restrictor is visible and is held in place by the steel ring with friction fit type locking tabs around the perimeter. I was not able to remove that ring and was not willing to break my way in. Note - the tabs are coming up toward you in the picture. When I removed the shower head from the shower arm, about a quarter cup of water came out. I suspect that debris and minerals will settle out of the standing water and build up in the shower head over time. 2/5/18 Update I gave the Delta RP28599 a try but did not become a fan. The spray pattern is too narrow to provide full body coverage, the water streams and water droplets are too small to hold temperature, and the flow restrictor is not designed for easy removal. I replaced this shower head with a Delta 75559, available exclusively from Home Depot. However, the Delta 75569 appears to be the same head with a different arrangement of the same spray tips. Caution, don’t believe Delta’s depictions of the water flow from the H2Okinetic nozzles. The swirl pattern would defy the laws of physics. Those nozzles produce a chaotic flow similar to that shown in the lower right corner of their picture. Delta ought to be embarrassed.

Here is how to stop the leak at the 1/2 inch pipe threads from the wall pipe
I've used these for several years. Great heads. We replace ours every couple of years due to extremely hard water that eventually plugs up anything. The feature on these of the rubber nozzles that you can rub with your finger to unplug them really does work well, but our water will just take out anythng over time. A standard head without the rubber nozzles will plug in about 4 months so 2 years with these is incredibly good. There is just one problem with these nice heads, the socket that screws on the 1/2" pipe from the wall has been made just slightly too large. It will leak a few drops right there if you use the standard white teflon pipe tape, or just thread compound like Rectorseal 5, or more layers of white tape, etc. Spent hours with the first one I ever installed trying to stop the leak. Well here is how to do it. :) First you need the *double thick* thread seal tape. The single-thick white stuff you find everywhere won't do it unless your wall pipe happens to be abnormally large. One of the big box home stores has double thick in their own brand and it is grey, not white. The yellow tape for gas lines is double thick, but don't use that, it doesn't do well with water. Then you need to use 5 full wraps (turns) of the double-thick to take up that gap between the M and F pipe threads. Press it gently into the threads after you get it wrapped. Unfortunately 10 turns of the white stuff is not equivalent, it compresses too much with that many wraps. Trust me, a lot of time spent there. Finally you *then* need to coat the outside of the pipe tape once wrapped on with the Rectorseal 5. Other compounds probably work, just in my experience the Rectorseal 5 from the big box home stores is the best for anything under 100psi pressue. The theory here, and I've seen this with other pipe fittings, is that joint compound - any of them - only works well if the threads are reasonable fit. If you have a big gap in the threads like this you first need to take up that extra space with the thread tape, then apply the compound. An no, unfortunately, using just the 5 turns of double thick thread tape without the coating of pipe thread compound won't do it either, I've tried. Then finally screw on your shower head and it should be leak-free from the first turn on!

Good unit but needs rubber washer
It's a good shower head but has very little range of movement. The shower head came with a hard plastic screen which is also the gasket. It does not work as a gasket and leaks. I simply unscrewed it with the large tab in the middle and put in a regular rubber washer, no leaks.

Very good no frills shower head that replaced a similar earlier ...
Very good no frills shower head that replaced a similar earlier Delta version. The only downside is the range of swivel motion is slightly reduced over the previous version. Not really a big deal though.

Great shower head!!! Rinses my thick hair better than most.
Great shower head. I just wish it filtered the hard water where I live but either way I love it!

Great product-would buy again.
Looks like it will be a real water saver, but still gives a very nice shower stream. Another winner by Delta! In fact I just ordered another one for our other shower.
