Winterklaar maken. De met fleece gevoerde 1460 herenlaars combineert origineel Docs-DNA met hoogwaardige bescherming tegen koud weer, inclusief DM's WinterGrip-zool. Gebouwd met gegroefde noppen met superieure tractie, grip en duurzaamheid voor een stevige voet op gladde oppervlakken, DM's WinterGrip is ideaal voor sneeuwdagen. Nog beter: het is gemaakt met Snowplow, een korrel- en zoutbestendig, waterbestendig leer dat gemakkelijk schoon te maken is. Dr. Martens is het spul van legendes. Het begon allemaal in 1945 in de buurt van München, Duitsland, toen Dr. Klaus Maertens zijn voet blesseerde bij een ski-ongeluk in de Beierse Alpen. Om het lopen tijdens het genezingsproces te vergemakkelijken, ontwierp hij een schoen met een luchtkussenzool. Met behulp van oude rubberen banden construeerde hij zolen waarin lucht in gesloten compartimenten zat. Hij liet zijn prototype zien aan zijn bevriende ingenieur/uitvinder, Dr. Herbert Funck, en samen besloten ze de schoenen te ontwikkelen en te produceren. De schoen loste niet alleen het directe probleem van de dokter op, maar begon ook goed te verkopen in Duitsland. In 1959 besloten de twee dat ze een bedrijf nodig hadden om de schoenen te produceren en te distribueren, toen genaamd Dr. Maertens, in andere delen van de wereld. Aanvankelijk verwierpen veel fabrikanten het concept van een zool met luchtkussen als een kortstondige gimmick. De R. Griggs Group, gevestigd in het dorp Wollaston in Engeland, besloot echter in te stemmen met het idee door de eerste werklaars met de revolutionaire zool te creëren. Op 1 april 1960 werd de eerste kersenrode werklaars met acht veterogen geproduceerd en kreeg de naam 1460. Om de merknaam beter in Engeland te verkopen, werd de naam verengelst tot Dr. Martens. Het assortiment kreeg de merknaam AirWair en de rest is geschiedenis.

Great boots

Bought these in large size knowing that Doc 1460's are unisex but these were cheaper since they are labeled "women's" and I suppose there are not many women who wear a size 13. I like the 'snowplow' bottom over regular Doc's bottoms even though it never snows where I live. I work in construction management and wear these daily at job sites with all imaginable conditions, mud being most common. I came back to this brand because I was sick of soles wearing out and remembered that Doc's in the 90's never wore through the sole, glad it is still the same. Still look great too. While the original bottoms are great, these have more grip on slippery surfaces and seem to be just as durable. I have had these several months now and the little dimples on the treads are just barely wearing off on the edges and center whereas other brands I have bought (Clark's, Rockport, Georgia) would usually be 1/4-1/2 worn off at 6 months. These are more comfortable as well (Rockport chukka boots being a tie in comfort and Clark's being terrible). I didn't realize they had a liner when I ordered, but it is much thinner then the leather so I don't think it makes much difference temperature wise, it DOES however make sliding my for in much easier and prevents leather staining my socks as well as making the boot more comfortable with no chafe. Only complaint is I pulled the tag out of one while putting it on, these aren't super heavy duty loops anyway, and nbd. 9.8/10 will buy again in several years when they wear out eventually.

Wrong item

Ordered these shoes back in aug of 22. Overall they are fine. The laces went bad quick so i replaced them and have had zero issues. The reason for my review though, i ordered these because they are supposed to be slip resistant but the bottom of my shoes do not match the picture, thus they are very slip resistant. I wish i would have realized this sooner as these are for work and will now have to pay abother $100 for proper shoes/saftey.

Great Boot, but check the sizing

I have 5 or 6 pairs of Docs and they are all size 13. So I stuck with that size when I ordered this pair. These are definitely larger than any of the other pairs that I have. Not sure if it is the wintergrip soles, which work amazingly by the way, or the lining in the boots. but I have to tighten these nearly all the way down to fit my foot. Hopefully they don't stretch much as I break them in, but I will be ordering the next pair a size down from my usual 1460 sizing. Everything else feels the same quality, and the non slip sole is spot-on perfect update to fix the only complaint I have had for the last 30 years of wearing Docs, the slippery soles on the North Dakota snow and ice.

Really good quality.

The fleece liner is very nice, leather quality seems really nice, and the color is beautiful. I’m planning on using these in whenever we go camping in the snow and just based off of my experience with them in the rain, I can tell they’ll be wonderful. I’ll update once I actually do put them to use. I do wish there was a bit I could have found some more accurate representation of the fit. I feel like they might be a bit big but only by an half size. I know half sizes aren’t available so my suggestion is to go true to size if you’re a whole size and if you’re a half size then go the the half size down.

Great boot, just know your size

Love My Docs!! Always a good quality boot. Well made, nood craftsmanship. Docs have never been very comfortable but anyone that wears/buys Docs should know that. I wear a size 10.5, bought a size 10, since they don't make half sizes, but the boot is way too big. It wasn't as bad when I first bought them but after 2 months they've stretched quite a bit. Overall still a good boot and no regrets buying them.

Not close to the original Doc brown leather

The soles on this boot are going to mess up your feet. Don't wear them for too long. They are not the honeycomb soles of yesterday

great product I'm lovin it

great boots i love them. to choose the correct size use us size chart. i ordered 11 ( i live in Europe so i am use to wear 44, 45 ,46 sized footwear (different manufacturers different numbers for the same foots ) but I noticed that all of them are usa size 11. so i order11 the boots are little bit big .my foots have a space to wear very thick socks, and i think i can fit there an insoles too.

great boots

I love these boots. I especially like the fact that the tongue opens a lot and you can put them on easily. Sometimes my feet are swollen and the tongue opening a lot more is fantastic. The color is great and the feel of the leather I like a lot. I can't say much about durability since my purchase is still quite recent. The price is expensive but so far its worth it in my opinion.

Poor Quality Control

I bought these Dr. Martens partly based on the company's great reputation for quality control. Sadly that seems to be a thing of the past. Upon receiving my new boots, I immediately noticed that one of the boot laces is worn through. While this may not seem to be a huge problem, it does mean I must immediately go find boot laces in the appropriate colour to replace the laces in these brand new boots. Not only will this cost me money, I will be out the time finding boot laces that are the correct colour. And if I would have purchased these same boots at a physical retailer with a store front, I would not have taken this pair but gone with a pair without any immediate visual flaws. Ironically, front and centre on the new boots was a quality control sticker - someone is not doing their job.
