Good surface but springy rather the solid

Epicurean cutting boards are very hard and very easy to clean; the 14.25 x 11.25 board fits easily in the dishwasher. They are far superior to any plastic cutting board, and last for years. No cutting board lasts for ever, and after thousand of cuts, I needed a new Epicurean board. The little rubber feet on this model of Epicurean cutting board seemed like an ingenious solution to the problem that occurs if the board or the counter under it are wet. When either are wet, the board will slide around on the counter top. The rubber feet on this model do keep the board firmly in place on the counter. The board is springy, however. The rubber feet elevate the board of the underlying counter by a very small amount, making the board springy. Some of the force of your cutting is absorbed by this springiness. Each time you cut, some of your effort goes into pushing the board into contact with the counter. To be efficient, you really don't want a springy cutting board, you want one that is rock solid, like the original Epicurean without the rubber feet. The low tech solution the allows me to use the original model (without the rubber feet) is to simply dry the board and the counter with a paper or cloth towel.

Missing the hang hole

It is the 4th Epicurean cutting board I've bought (from Amazon & local stores). It looks as sturdy as my previous products however I found it doesn't come with the hang hole shown in the description. I'm not sure if the hole(s) is actually covered by those black silicon feet. If it is, I'll try remove the top middle foot (it looks a bit hard though). Already sent email to Epicurean but heard nothing from them yet.

Groove not needed.

I thought the groove around the edges would be nice, but all it really did was cut down on the total cutting surface area. Returned it and bought a bigger size without the groove.

Washable

I like that the cutting board is thin enough to fit in my dishwasher. I also like the channel design on one side of the board. I wish both sides would have the channel. Also the board does warp slightly washed in the dishwasher. Otherwise I really like this cutting board.

Very durable, non-slip rubber feet, liquid groove on ONE side.

I’ve owned Epicurean cutting boards for 5+ years. I had 2 of the smaller ones with no feet and the largest one, again with no feet. I wanted intermediate sizes so I bought the two in the pictures. Oddly, none of the photos on Amazon show the side without the juice groove. Yes, one side of these boards is totally flat. Pro/con: - Good size, I put an 8 inch kitchen shear in the photo for scale. - Easy to clean with a bit of soap and water. I’ve put older boards in the dishwasher years ago and it definitely caused the boards to deteriorate - safe for knives - no blade damage - Rubber feet on both sides make these boards non-slip, even on granite counters. My older boards with no feet spin and slip. - durable colors due to hand washing - small hanging holes allow me to keep these boards handy on my pot rack Con - Pricey - Not really dishwasher safe in the long run - the ones with the rubber feet flex a bit in the center -not sure how long the rubber feet will hold up - hand washing should help Overall, these are the most versatile cutting boards I own. I’ve got a top rate and very thick Boardsmith walnut board, a large teak board, and a couple of poly boards but I always reach for the Epicureans first for smaller items that get chopped and popped into a pot or a pan. Hope that helps!

Funny Smell

This board was perfect in size and usability and I was extremely happy with it all. Except it has a FUNNY SMELL (not nice). I have another Epicurean board, a larger one and it never had this bad smell. I am not sure what the heck to do so am trying to soak it out.

My last one lasted almost 15 years!

I purposely bought this brand again because my last cutting board from them lived through a lot of use and a thousand runs through the dishwasher. I'm expecting a similar performance from this one. I love the grooves for liquids to gather - an upgrade from my previous board.

Warped Board

The cutting board is warped, it is bowed in the middle so the non stick feet don't touch the counter and the board slides all over the counter. We purchased this board because we have another Epicurean board we bought several years ago and love it. This is either a knock off or the quality has significantly decreased over the years. We have had thus board for 1 month and it is getting worse not better. We are not able to return it. It also still smells like new plastic even though it has been cleaned several times every day (we use it a lot) for the last month.
