Fit en gezond blijven is slechts een stap verwijderd. Rating is for the scale, not for Amazon sending one that was actually pre-used.

When I opened the box and pulled out the scale I was shocked that the LED was lit up from my grip on the scale. When I took it out of the plastic bag, I saw that there were dozens of marks on the glass of dried droplets of water that were splashed on it. A decal for setting it up said to remove the plastic piece preventing battery power from flowing before the setup. Nope, no plastic piece blocking the battery. Clearly this scale I received was returned scale that had the plastic piece removed to use the scale. Clearly the scale was setup near a shower that at some point sprayed dozens of water droplets onto the glass top. The first time I've had such a problem with a supposedly new/unused device. Quite disappointing. It's inexpensive. I tested my weight on a medical scale at the local hospital and withing minutes on this scale. They registered the same within 0.3 % (0.6 pounds out of ~200). I looked up the accuracy required of medical scales and found that they needed recalibration at least once per year to be accurate and the acceptable accuracy was ~1.0 % at a weight of about half of full range. My conclusion was the disparity of .3% was about as likely to be an inaccuracy of the medical scale as the bathroom scale. I wanted to use it and decided that the wasted power of the batteries as the package bumped around in shipment was less expensive to deal with than the time wasted in sending it back to Amazon, waiting for a new scale to arrive, and testing the new scale against the medical scale and not knowing ahead of time whether the replacement would give a weight with a greater deviation from the medical scale. I took a wet paper towel, wiped off the dozens of dried droplet spots and started using the scale daily. Encouraging is this observation about the engineering of the scale: it definitely detects a slight change in weight unlike an older scale we have. It detects the added .6 pounds of my bluetooth headset If I'm wearing it when stepping on the scale. It detects any difference of .1lb or more. An older digital scale of mine would repeatedly give the same weight even if the real difference was as much as 2 or maybe 3 lbs. Totally different level of detecting changes in weight and much improved from my older scale.

It works well.

The scale seems to be accurate within a few ounces and for bodyweight measurements that's pretty good. Apparently, after comparing it to this new scale for a week, my old scale was still operating well but I do like the display of this one better. My old one talks but I like still like the Etekcity Bathroom Scale for Body Weight better at the moment. I weigh between 290 and 293 at the moment and it accurately read my weight plus me holding a 50 lb weight plate 3x in a row with the same result. I like to see if all the plates weight the same and this scale met even that silly need. Calibrating is the same as most digital bathroom scales and only takes a minute. It's reasonably priced, accurate and, if you count me as "livestock" it is heavy duty as well LOL I recommend it. [EDIT] So it does not keep the result on screen after you step off. The second you move the results change so for me it is not ideal. I cannot weigh myself unless I am wearing glasses or contacts. I removed a star for that.

Great scale at a great price

This scale is streamlined and accurate up to a tenth of a pound. I tested its accuracy against two scales costing 2 and 3 times more. The backlit display is bright, easy to read, and the measured weight is displayed for about 10 seconds. The scale is completely silent (no beeps), and turns on and off instantly. It comes with a one-year warranty, which doubles if you register it on the company’s website, which only takes a few minutes. As with all bathroom scales, you’ll need to place it on a hard, flat surface, and you’ll have to calibrate it once in a while by simply stepping on and off of it and/or temporarily removing the batteries. It’s all explained in the printed quick-start guide; a full user’s guide is available online. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Accurate & Inexpensive - My One Year Long Term Review

We have been using this Etekcity digital scale for a year now in our our home are very pleased with the scale so far. We had purchased this scale to replace our previous Sunbeam manual , Spring loaded bathroom scale which was horribly inaccurate and deliberated for a considerable amount of time between this scale and the FitBit Aria smart scale . In the end because of the huge price difference and very positive reviews on this scale made us go with this one Design, Construction & Build ------------------------------------- - The scale is feels heavy for its size mainly due to the thick, monolithic glass sheet stepping surface of the scale - All our fears or cracked or broken glass due to stepping on it frequently, bumping or dropping it were unfounded in the past year ( we did all of them !) , so its definitely sturdy and well built - The two tone black-sliver finish on the scale looks ultra modern and chic - The digital readouts are large and backlit in a pleasant not-too-strong blue which is visible both in light and complete darkness. I often check my weight on the scale during midnight bathroom visits. Long Term Accuracy --------------------------- - When we initially purchased this scale i used a 10 lb Rice bag to measure its accuracy and it was always within 0.2 lb of 10 lb with repeated tests, which is very accurate for a digital scale and well suited for measuring body weight - Another pointer to the accuracy of this scale is that the weight that we got for our toddler son from his pediatrician using a professional balance scale matches the results we got from this scale I tried the same accuracy test today after a whole year of use & abuse: 10 lb Basmati Rice Bag : Scale Measured = 10.4 lb 6lb Dumbbells : Scale Measured = 5.8 lb As you can see that even after one year the scale is fairly accurate , for all I know it might be 100% accurate as well as I have no way of certifying that the 10lb rice bag or the dumbbells are infact their true stated weights. Battery Life ---------------- - The scale is still using the two original AAA that came with the package even after a year of frequent, daily use so I'd say its great! Cons ---------- - About the only con about this scale is that the glass surface, being glass, needs frequent cleaning as it shows water stains. we usually wipe it with a damp cloth once every week so its not too bad. If you are going worry about keeping it spotless always then you'll going to have a hard time :) Overall we are very pleased with our purchase and couple of our family friends have also purchased it after seeing it in our home and can highly recommend this scale if your are looking for a good looking , inexpensive and accurate digital scale.
