I wish I had this as a kid.

The media could not be loaded. First, this thing has a steep price tag for what it is and what it does. I could have bought a really cool, high quality lightsaber to duel with for this price. Heck, I could have bought a lot of nice things for this price, but none of them would be the replica of the beta capsule that I have always wanted to own. This is that beta capsule. It’s very nice! So, if you can part with the cash, then I would recommend it. It’s built solidly. The paint job replicates the prop as I recall it from the TV show. When I look at this in my collection case, it makes me feel like watching the show again. The light effect is spot on and the sound is very well done. So if you’re looking for the perfect prop replica for a beta capsule, which is a rather small size group of people I’d say for a 55 year old TV show, then this beats any plastic versions that have ever existed. Pair it up with a communicator pin and you’re ready to join the Science Patrol. The battery access is not easy for my fingers, but it’s not impossible either. You can see in the photo that it takes two photo cells which are not the cheapest of batteries. I’m not sure why they didn’t choose a different battery type but the sound is loud enough so there’s that. lol Oh, and I put them in when I’m going to use it so the batteries don’t go bad or leak. It’s not an item that I use every day so I’m playing it safe. In the photo you can see it sits nicely in the stand that it comes with and it looks nice with the Science Patrol communicator pin. It’s on a shelf with other items from TV past like Pufnstuf and Gumby. As I said, it’s an expensive piece that I would have loved to have 45+ years ago. But better late than never.
