Little things that won't work right like this can become a big annoyance
A leaking toilet value can be a big annoyance. If your toilet keeps refilling over and over, check the flapper valve to see if it has become wrapped and is no longer flat to be able to seal against the flapper valve. Once the flapper valve become paler color from age, pink in this case, it's an indication that it's time to replace it.

Good, but doesn't last
This is not my first flapper of this exact type. It works great and is very easy to install. I like the plastic chain as it cuts and adjusts quickly and does not rust in contrast to generic products. Unfortunately, it does not last very long. With my 3.5 GPF toilet these flappers only last a year, so it is an annual replacement. Given the price it is not too terrible, but I read that the average life of a flapper is 5 years, so this one doesn't live up to that.

Did Not Leak When Others Did
My old flapper was leaking so I initially bought a Fluidmaster 502 to replace it. This is the model that allows adjustment of the amount of water drained from the tank before it closes. For whatever reason, I could not get the new unit to seal - slow leak every time even though I made numerous adjustments. So I gave up and ordered the Model 500 instead. It installed easily and no leaks! Not sure what the difference is, but I highly recommend this flapper.

It worked great for me
My apartment has an old "Crane" toilet and you can't read what's stamped on the inside of the tank anymore. It's been "ghost flushing" occasionally, and just draining out overnight so the tank is empty in the morning. This was such a cheap easy fix, i figured i would do it myself instead of bothering with my landlord. I don't know how they get the chain to float, but it does, and that's kind of neat. And i don't know how this thing works - it just stays open long enough for the flush to happen, and then closes like magic. I have a new appreciation for toilet technology now.

My old flapper's metal chain corroded for the 3rd time. I was going to create a durable chain myself to replace it but came across this flapper. Idk anything about toilets so I'm glad it fit. No more touching tank water to flush manually????
