Fruity Mango scent, but a sad waste of plastic packaging
I really love the scented detergents and booster, especially Island Fresh and anything fruity. I order regularly from Amazon because I can't find the scents I like in stores. I have two issues with Gain products though... 1. I go through a 20 oz container of scent beads per month and it REALLY bothers me to toss all that plastic when the bottle is empty. Gain needs to make these available in an eco friendly package and in bulk. I have already switched to another brand of laundry detergent sheet because I refuse to contribute to the plastic waste of liquid detergents. I really hope this company can do the responsible thing and package all of their products in a more eco friendly way. 2. I don't understand why it is so hard to find a description of the scents that explain what they ACTUALLY smell like! Most reviewer claim to love the scent... but they don't describe it. Is it fruity? Is it floral? Is it musky? The Gain website does not give any better descriptions. Seems like this should be much easier than it is. For the record... Island Fresh is a nice fruity, sweet, mango scent.

Amazing Tropical Smell
I absolutely love the Island Fresh Scent Booster beads! I could not find at Walmart anymore so I decided to buy these from Amazon. When I put my clothes on I can smell the beads. I recommend this product to anyone who loves fruity and tropical smells.

I ordered this to use in my laundry & also to make air freshener at home. I boil water and add the beads to a spray bottle & shake very well. The smell is Amazing.

Can't say enough positive things about this product
Background: I avoid scented laundry detergent as I've had bad reactions to some of them in the past. The downside to this - especially with gym gear - is it tends to get a bit musty with any kind of use. I'd heard people rave about Gain scent boosters but was leery at first as I'd tried other brands in past and found the scent overpowering. TL;DR: these are GREAT! I used 1/3 of a cap in a medium load of laundry, starting with undershirts, socks, underwear, with my usual Kirkland unscented laundry detergent. Result: clothes came out smelling pleasant, and the scent wasn't overpowering. A week later, the sock & underwear drawer still smells great and in no way "eye-watering." I will likely try half to 2/3 of a cap next time for a bit more of a boost. I've tried several scent options in both the Gain and Downy variants and they're all excellent - just pick a scent you prefer. On that note, the package design is clever: there's a tiny vent hole in the top of the cap and instructions to "squeeze and sniff" - you can find one on a store shelf and just give the bottle squeeze to see if you like it before buying. Value for money is great. Using the little I did, I could see a single bottle lasting months. This *particular* scent, "Island Fresh," is vaguely fruity, not "floral" but more like tropical vegetation with mango/guava. Top marks and do check out the other scents as well - they're all subtly different.

Smells like summer
Because I have a "sensitive nose", I don't tend to like scented laundry detergents. Unfortunately, when it comes to detergent the intensity of the scent is linked to how much detergent you use and that's often not something you can adjust without affecting the wash quality. So these in-wash scent beads offer a much easier way to do it: you just add however much you want/need. Whether you like the fragrance or not is going to be a personal preference, but I do find that some scents work better for towels and sheets, while others are amazing for everyday clothing. A little goes a long way and I often use only a small amount for most regular loads (a teaspoon or a little more) although for much larger loads or for blankets or things I'll be putting into storage, I will use a little more. The ingredients in this product are literally just perfume, coloring, and a fragrance disperser. Even for my "sensitive nose", I'm no bothered by the subtle scents. I didn't think I'd keep using a product like this, but both my wife and I love it so we'll keep using it!

Gain does a good job here with providing some alternative scents compared to the competition and they smell just as good. This is the Island Fresh scent and it smells like you’re on a tropical vacation – who doesn’t enjoy that! Nice subtle but present scent that lasts a long time.
I like the scent of this variety better than some others, I'm not sure it has completely grown on me yet. I would describe it as fruity with a background of coconut - it's a bit reminiscent of a pina colada. Unlike some scent boosters, while it definitely lends a very noticeable scent it is not overpowering like some other varieties can be. I think most people would like it, than not, but the fruitiness might be polarizing across a family. Just like all of these scent "boosters", it's easy to use, just throw it in the drum when doing a wash and that's the end of it. But I use these scent boosters for all sorts of non-laundry related things, they're good for deodorizing all sorts of things by just leaving a bit of it in a small cup around the house or my favourite use is to sprinkle it around the interior perimeter of the detached garage to keep it from smelling musty. One bottle goes a hugely long way.
