I like to keep an extra replacement hepa for when my air purifier has an blinking alarm that it is time to replace the filter.

HEPA filter and ease of use

Bought my first replacement filter 6 months ago. Easy to replace, HEPA rating good. Am reordering again. Recommends '6 month' change out. My fan just gave me a 'replace' light. Checked filter - and, yes, clear to me it does need replacement. White when installed, now filter is 'grey' in color and clearly needs replacement. IMHO - Wish the filter was not so expensive (4-Star). Has worked well for me and does keep down dust. I always run the 'UV-C' with the filter. Reordering - Price now is $1.00 more than when I bought in Oct 2022. Not a bad price increase, but, going to order 2 this time instead of one.

Works Great, but Work on your Diet Instead

I had bad grass pollen allergy. So, air filters make life tolerable. However, I found that after working on my metabolic health, my grass pollen allergy is all but gone. So, yeah get the air filters, but work on your metabolic health. This is because the return of investment on metabolic health far outweighs any other investment you make in your life.

Say What?!

Why the huge price increase for this C type filter?! It is now more expensive that what I paid for the air purifier at Costco!! Crazy!! Cheaper to just but a new unit! Important tip - when buying a new unit, look at the price of consumables first.

I bought our air purifier (GermGuardian AC5350B) a year and a half ago and was reluctant to swap out the filters. The purifier has been working fine, not seeming like it's being overtaxed, although the "change filter" red light did come on a couple of times, and we just re-set it. We no longer have pets. I use it mostly for cooking odors and allergens. It seems to last a long time. I've vacuumd all parts many times. So I've had this replacement filter in my saved items for a long time, and bought it at $40 (more expensive than in the States but a somewhat decent price for Canada). There is only one in the box. My box does not say anything about two. The carbon is velcroed, just like the original before. It easily peels off so that you can vacuum all parts. I was worried, based on some other reviews, that I would get a different version that was glued or something, but that is not the case. This one is easily removable so one can just buy new carbon if they choose. I am happy with it. Update: This filter is probably genuine and does what it was designed to do, but after having this machine/air filter for several years, I would not recommend it. I have had pretty much lifelong allergies (since I was a teenager), even had sinus surgery, and I am sensitive to smells and in the past we've had pets, so I had a lot of reasons to purchase an air filter. But I still have allergies without medication, we no longer have pets, have moved to a much cleaner air part of another country, and still, this machine does not get rid of my allergens or cooking odors. The latter is the main thing I have wanted to get rid of. I conclude that it's ineffective for this. Chicken vegetable pasta, bacon, steak, etc. etc., - every day the smells remain for many hours, even after blasting the machine on 5 for 2+ hrs. If this machine ever breaks down I will not replace it. Waste of money?

Reset Your Purifier!

I very quickly learned that the air purifier tells you when to replace by using a timer. It does not measure filter condition. If you don't have instructions for your purifier, they can be found online. It is removing a lot of dust from the air. I was surprised that the Amazon price was better than the Costco price for the filter.

I have had my purifiers for quite a few years now and they worked great. But now the filters have changed. They are so cheaply made. The carbon filter is so much thinner than it used to be and doesn't seem to really remove odours like before. Also they are so hard to vacuum now, they don't stay stuck to the Velcro and are so thin that they get sucked up in the vacuum.

Mixed Feelings

These new filters have a plastic frame, as opposed to the older ones which had a rigid paper/cardboard frame. They don't fit as nicely as the old ones, but a piece of paper was included in the box to say "they're designed to fit this way". To clarify, the intake cover no longer sits flush with the rear of the unit and there is a gap. I'm not sure why the new ones were designed this way, but it seems to be working alright still.
