Decent light kit

Wife and daughter installed on kia soul and all works good, instructions were good

Not an easy one person job

While the instructions were very clear, even using a lift it took two of us just over an hour. running wires through cavities alone would have been much more difficult. It seems well made and worked perfectly.

Lasted 3 years.

It was super easy to install when purchased in 2013, and worked well for about 3 years. Then the right side turn signal quit working on the trailer and it blows the left side marker light fuse if you turn on the headlights. Rewired trailer thinking that was the problem, but turns out it wasn't. Still works fine if you don't turn right or drive at night. Looking for alternate product to replace this.

Unit not as pictured.

Not as pictured. Was supposed to be a 10 - 20 minute install where you remove the rear lights and plug in the gizmos - no other wiring required. Actual unit came with red power line and in-line fuse with instructions to connect to the battery, run the wire under the car, and thread up to box. Really?? Under the care with an exposed wire?? Even with the plastic ties (3 of them - that'll be plenty) this doesn't sound right and certainly not easy. NOT what the product description and other comments said. Wrote mfr for clarification - guess they never check their web site "contact us" section. Bought another brand - it was fine and installed in 10 minutes. Not happy with Hopkins........

Simply stopped working shortly after warranty period.

This seemed like a great product. I found it fairly simple to install on my 2013 Kia Soul. I used it a few times around town with my trailer and all worked well. Approximately 2-3 weeks after the month warranty expired however the kit simply stopped working. I pulled out my light so I could get to the control module and found that the module was getting all the correct signals but that nothing was coming out the other side. I have to assume they are not all going to do this which is the only reason I gave this 2 stars instead of one. I did read another post where someone had the same thing happen and it just stopped working on them.

Caution - this is for a 2010

I have a 2013 Soul and though the plugs fit, there is an additional ground wire missing from this harness. The instructions that come with it show it for a model year 2010. The difference is probably related to the LED tail lights on the new model. I had to add a wire to make it work. Notice there is no year specified in the Amazon add.

Perhaps bad luck of the draw

What is pictured is not what arrived. The converter has two sides, which I will call 'trailer side' and 'vehicle side'. The pictured converter has 5 wires attached to the car side: one for ground, 3 to one tail-light and 1 to the other tail-light. The one I received has an additional wire which is to be routed from the back bumper, under the car, to the battery. I specifically ordered this version of the item because it did not have that additional wire. Unfortunately, no one local had the item in stock, or I would not have risked it. A few of the other reviews also indicate that they received the same type of harness that I did. Perhaps bad luck of the draw.

Simple installation

Wiring instructions were incorrect. First tech person said they were correct! tried to wire again ...did not work. Second tech person gave correct answer no wiring necessary just plug in. Wasted an hour and half and $80 on mechanic.
