Very well made

This is the cutest Melissa & Doug playhouse ever . My 3 year old granddaughter played with it for an hour or more at a time and several times a day . She absolutely loves it . Worth the money

Great castle - until it broke

Shopping for castles, I quickly determined that this one is the best value because of the inclusion of the dolls and furniture. It arrived on time and beautiful. It looks so much nicer than a plastic castle. My child opened it as a Christmas present. I quickly got to work on personalizing it: I used acrylic paint to paint the walls my kid's favorite colors. I painted each stair a different color of the rainbow and put a rainbow on the inside of the snappy door. I added a rooftop garden with blueberry bushes and pollinators, a bird bath, stained glass windows, and window boxes. I decoupaged on a painting of a kangaroo over one of the doors, as well as bread and water in the dungeon, upon my child's request. The child added a couple stickers. It was looking fabulous. However. On the FOURTH DAY of having this castle, there was an accident. My child was playing quietly with it when it slid off a chair to the floor and broke in half. The hinges are intact, but near the hinges on one side, the wood cracked all the way down, sharp and splintery. On one hand, it's an accident (our fault), and of course wood can break, and that's the trade off for getting a lightweight, on-the-go toy. On the other hand, it only lasted FOUR DAYS of light use, mostly sitting on a table while I painstakingly painted it, so that's disappointing. We're going to try gluing it back together with wood glue. If it breaks again, we will just sand down the sides and let them play with it in pieces.

LOVE IT!

I had such a hard time buying Cmas for my 7 y/o twin boys this yr, bc they're at such an in btween age! This castle was actually a last minute toy bc 1 of my boys had a few more things than the other one...it turned out to be one of the most loved toys that Santa brought!! Its honestly perfect for any age child!! My boys like it bc it can be easily transported from the playroom to the lv room (w/out a big mess) & compact enough for a an over nite stay w/memaw!! This castle holds my boys' attention for hours! The quality is absolutley superb (as w/most M&D toys). Its all in one piece, so don't hv to worry about pieces being scattered & in our case, lost. I love sitting back listening to my boys play w/this toy...its definitely an imagination sparker! Also, the extra figurines that come w/this are top quality & make an excellent addition to the toy...as do most of the other little super hero/army men/plastic dinosaurs that most lil boys hv plenty of just laying around the house already! There's really no need to buy extra play figures, imo. I dn't have any lil girls around my house, but I can see how this toy would also be equally suitable for girls & boys alike! If your thinking about purchasing this toy--do it! I promise you won't be disappointed!! Such a hit...so much fun...for such a small price! This would make a great "main" present for someone on a tight budget! My boys also got the expensive Imaginext castle, bat cave, etc...& this castle definitely beats all of those hands down, for so many reasons---in my eyes, as a mom as well as in the eyes of my 7 y/o's! Excellent, excellent, excellent toy on ALL LEVELS for all ages!

One of our boys' favorite toys - we've had this castle for years.

I keep buying this little castle as a gift again and again when it goes on sale because our own boys STILL play with it, even at 7 and 8 years old. One of our boys got it at age 3 or 4, and it still gets regular play. The quality is great - I love that you can throw the dolls inside, fold it up, and carry it to another room. Our boys will often sneak it up to their bedrooms to play with it. It's also hard to find a dollhouse type toy that isn't huge or covered in pink, so this was a great find. There's a bigger version as well, but this smaller one is perfect. We've had it for years, our boys play rough, and it still looks great.

Update: Stellar Customer Service, Great Product !!!

Beware the hinge: I purchased this toy for my son for Christmas 2012 (my daughter got the Melissa and Doug mini dollhouse)and the hinge came apart not long after opening it. Customer service was great and they replaced it ASAP. However, 6-7 months later the REPLACEMENT castle has come apart the same way the original one did as well. It is a disappointment, and my son (again) is sad about it. Other than that, he played with it nearly every day and loved it, as did my daughter the dollhouse. I got the "toob" (name of product) of knights and dragons as suggested to go along and expand the imaginative play but the included furniture and figures are also very good. Update(November 2013): After seeing my review, a wonderful customer service representative reached out to me to arrange a product replacement of BOTH damaged toys. I have to give 5 stars across the board for any company that takes the time to truly listen to their customers, stand by their products, and try to make things right if they are not. Thank you! Thanks also to the peer suggestions on how to repair the hinge. I admit that I am not a "handy" person with tools but should the occasion arise I will forward the information to someone with the know-how =).

Most Excellent!

Fantastic quality, lots of attention to detail but not over fussy just the right balance for the intended age group, helping a child to fire up their imagination and to invent, not spoon feeding with gadgetry! My grandson loves it!

Beautifully designed with carrying handle

Loved the castle. Bought for 4 year old. Can pack all his knights inside and carry it up to bed. Carry handle a big plus.

precioso

Excelente juguete unisex para fomentar el juego y la creatividad de los niños. Es de madera ligera y su diseño portable lo hace muy práctico tanto para que los niños lo carguen a donde sea como para recoger después de jugar. Otra cosa que me encanta es que no ocupa mucho espacio, cabe fácilmente en un librero pequeño.
