Does what it promises
Including: • turns your lights on and off. Check • dims your lights. Check • undims your lights. Check • works with Alexa. Check, although whether Alexa works is a different story. The only way I could get it to work in my daughter's room is if I changed her name to Brian. • works with Google. Check. Although running back and forth to Vital Statistics to change my daughter's name to Brian and back again depending on which smart device I want to use is going to be a real pain. • easy to install. Well, yeah, pretty much. The instructions (which, by the way, are printed on the box—don't waste your time hunting around the house to see if you dropped them, like I heard some people did) simply say to use the Meross app. Which is a lot more useful than you'd think. About eight screens' worth of clear diagrams. The most important ones have been reposted in these reviews. If you've spliced wires together before using wire nuts (included), installation is pretty easy, once you understand what all the pictures are of. (I thought the switch was an iPhone for a long while.) There is only one diagram you really need, the one that shows how to connect the four switch wires to the four colors of wires in your junction box. The only trouble I had with installation was this step…the diagram tells you to hook one of the switch wires to a wire that will be either black or red, another to a wire that will be either black or brown. Well, the wires in my house are bare copper, white, black and…black. So two black wires, both coming from the same direction in the junction box, no red, no brown. So I just shrugged and picked a black wire at random, pretty sure (OK, hoping) that it wouldn't matter too much if I got it wrong (by the way, I don't think this is a common practice with actual electricians). Of course with 50-50 odds I lost. The switch did nothing. But, no sparks came shooting out of the wall toward my eyes, so I was heartened enough to take the switch back out, switch the black wires, and try again. And then everything was fine. The switch gave me a quick little light show to let me know it was working and to show off a bit, frankly, and that was that. If not for the two-black-wires snag, the installation would've taken about ten minutes or so. That's not including adding the device in the app. Which was also pretty easy, but as I had bought a few Meross Wi-Fi outlet switches before, I already had the app, so it was just a matter of telling the app I was adding a new dimmer switch, and that was basically that. I didn't have to type in the Wi-Fi password again or anything. Basically my phone pointed double fingers at me and said, "Gotcha covered." (This actually happened.) Then I had to go to Google and Alexa and add the devices there. That was also really quick and painless. Until, as I mentioned, I tried to get Alexa to understand my kid's name, so if you're trying to decide between Google and Alexa, advantage: Google. Sorry, Amazon. :-S • You do need to have a neutral wire. Now me not being an electrician at all (maybe you could tell?), this was very confusing to me. In my wall I've got sheaths that each contain a wire, and another wire, and a naked metal wire. I assume one's hot, one's cold, one's ground. I think but I wouldn't swear that black's hot, white's not, and I'm almost positive that bare copper is ground. But I don't know if any of them are neutral or not. And I don't know how to tell; they all seem nice enough. And the fact that Meross thinks I should be finding red or brown wires in my walls makes me wonder if I should trust their judgment. But this is the Age of Readily Available but Highly Questionable Information on the Internet. From what I found out, if you have a house built after 1980 or so, you've most likely got neutral wires in your wiring. Which wire? The white one. What's the difference between it and a not-hot wire? I don't know. But basically, if you open up your junction box and it looks like the picture on the Meross app, you're good to go. And to be extra safe, I described my setup to Meross, and they wrote me back very quickly and assured me that I had what I needed to make the switch work. So I took a deep breath and went ahead and connected it (again, not how electricians do it), figuring if the switch didn't work out and my house burned down, well, that's a scathing one-star review for Meross. • it does remember the setting you last set it at, contrary to what another reviewer said. If you set it to half-bright on the wall, when you turn the light off and back on it comes up half-bright. What's more, if you open Google or Alexa, they both show the light as half-bright. If you tell the Google app to turn the brightness to 20% and open the Alexa app, you will see the brightness is at 20% there too. And vice versa. So I had no troubles with the switch losing its memory. • the switch fit my junction box, no troubles there. The switch plate is pretty flush to the wall…maybe I would've liked it a smidge closer, but I don't think anyone but me would ever notice. But it's not like it's uneven or anything. The plate snaps onto the switch rather than screwing on, which is a bit clunky. • I had no delay in turning on the light. Unless you count the light quickly ramping up from dim to full brightness; it starts out dim and very quickly brightens to full in less than a second. I thought that was kinda cool, a feature, not a bug. • the light on the switch is bright enough to see and help you find the switch in the dark (if you can't remember that it's where it always is, by the door), but it's not bright enough to keep you awake, in my opinion. When it's dark in the room, the bottom light glows a pale orangey-red. I have had devices with LEDs so bright I had to break out the electrical tape, but this is a subtle glow and wouldn't bother me. I do wish that the Meross app allowed you to do things like cut off the LEDs altogether, just because some people would prefer that, and why not allow you to? It couldn't be difficult to code that option in. Or change the maximum brightness level; you can change the maximum dimness, why not the maximum brightness too? Most people wouldn't care, but it's an easy feature to add for those that would. • I fail to see why using wire nuts in wiring a switch is a problem. That's how you do it, isn't it? (Again, not an electrician.) CONCLUSION: I would give it four and a half stars, but since I can't, and since the reasons for my half-star penalty would've been quibbly, five stars. Does what it says it does, works, not hard to install. I'll edit my review down if I have any trouble with it. Full disclosure: I received this switch for free in exchange for giving a review of it, but I didn’t go easy on them for that. They just asked for a review, period, not a favorable or five-star review. I just gave the switch that rating cz that's what I think it deserves.

Rock Solid Homekit Integration
These can be a little tricky to install - in my case - the master and slave had to be installed in a certain location and they wouldn't work in the other location. From the wiring alone - you couldn't tell which location was which so It took some troubleshooting to figure out how to get it setup correctly. Once setup though - i have found the Homekit integration rock solid. It hasn't dropped or shown offline and it has worked quickly every time i have opened up my phone and tried it. I also have the Meross garage door opener and having tried several smart products i feel like Meross makes some of the best ones.

Reliable and works well with Apple HomeKit
Works great with recessed kitchen LED lighting, providing a wide range of brightness to dimming. Requires a large amount of room in electrical box to accommodate the switch along with all it's wire nuts. Not sure how this happened but I needed to return/replace original two-pack due a wrong switch that didn't match switch it was supposed to pair with (also both switches were not new (used). I bought this brand because the units have proved to be reliable elsewhere in my house for about a year so far.

Easy installation! HomeKit Integration is Great!
I've been slowly upgrading my house to make it smart and in-wall switches have been one of the last steps. I'm glad I found the Meross one since it connects to Apple HomeKit, the Meross app is easy to use and the installation was a breeze. The directions are pretty straight forward with diagrams to help. Took me about an hour for everything. Here are the steps that I took to install this 3-way switch in my kitchen: 1. Turned off the power and then took off the face plates. I took a picture of the existing wiring just in case I wanted to go back to the old switches. 2. I disconnected all the wires in both switch boxes and then turned the power back on. I made sure nobody was around when I did this. 3. Using my electrical tester, I carefully identified the "Live" wire. Mine was black. 4. Turned the power back off. 5. I then started taking the wire nuts (included in the Meross box) and connecting wires to the switch box with the "Live" wire in it. Green to the copper ground wire, Live to the black wire above, the Neutral wire (mine was white and was buried in the back of the box), and then the "Traveler Wires." Meross includes stickers to put on the wires, but I skipped that step. 6. There were two Traveler wires - 50/50 guess which one was the right one so I took a guess. 7. Then I went over to the other switch box and connected the wires there. Just four of them - Green to Copper ground (again), Black to Black and then my guess at the two "Traveler Wires" 8. Tucked everything back in and then turned the power. After all of that, it didn't work. Why? My guess at the traveler wires was wrong! Meross points out in the instructions that this is probably the culprit. So I turned the power back off and simply switched the traveler wires in the 2nd box. Power back on and it worked! Both switches could manually turn on! Next, syncing it up to HomeKit was a breeze. There is an 8 digit code on the front of the 1st switch that I used to activate it. It took about 30 sec to add it to HomeKit. I have another Meross device so I already had that app on my phone. In the Meross app, I hit the "+" button at the top right and it automatically found the device. Super easy. I am able to control it through Siri, Google Home and Alexa with no problems. It reacts pretty quickly too - maybe a split second from the time I try to activate it with my voice to it coming on. The dimmer function seems to work in 25% increments manually from the switch, but through the app you can get it more precise (if you really wanted to dim your lights to an exact 47%, I guess you could). All-in-all, this 3-way switch is very user friendly at a good price. Love the Apple HomeKit integration. Would definitely recommend!

Easy install w HomeKit and Alexa but NO FADE
The installation, wifi, HomeKit and Alexa integration is outstanding BUT there is NO FADE. That means dimming is jittery and stepped. There are no other reasonably priced price Homekit 3 way dimmers and so I’m stuck with this until someone else comes out with it.

There are two switches, but it is not a true 2PacK
These are very good switches, but understand that this two pack does not contain two complete smart dimmer switches. One is a master and one is a slave switch.

Incredible Value for What it Can Do
I had the earlier versions of the WiFi “smart” light switches and this is 200% better! It’s just incredible. Easy to use and smart programming. The app is amazing. It ALWAYS connects and instant response time. The dimmer feature is somewhat accurate. But not as many brightness levels as the pricey Leviton that I replaced it with. But it’s good enough. The Leviton dimmer I could set as low as filament ignition. This, the lowest is ‘dim’. See pic of lowest to highest brightness setting of my chandelier. Installation was a bit tricky for me cause it was in a gang of 3 switches and I had those multi-switch (3-way) lights so there were several wires to take note off. Also, the housing is recessed against the decora switch plate. See pic. Overall, if I had the budget to replace all my house switches, I would replace them with these! You can have the app control all your house lights and programme them too.

Good Products, but Fails with other integrations often
* Easy to install and configure, the usual 4 cables (white neutral is required) * Works well with the Meross App (only had to reconfigure once in the last month, which should not happen with any IoT device). * Device colour is not as white as the wall plate (it's a bit off-white). * The 2 stars went away because I use Home Assistant and send HTTP requests through IFTTT so that I could control all my devices through HomeKit (on iPhone). All my TP-Link switches work flawlessly in Home Assistant and in HomeKit on my iPhone. Meross, on the other hand, fails to work with IFTTT, Alexa, Google Home Assistant (and obviously if those don't work, I can't control it through HomeKit, only via Meross App, which is somewhat disappointing). * Another thing that buyers should know is that my switch has a 2 seconds delay when I manually turn it off - this part I really don't get - I press a button and have to wait for the light to turn off. Again, something that NEVER happens with TP-Link switches. Overall, the device is good for the price and does what it suppose to do. When it works with Alexa, Google Home and IFTTT you get bette control. I don't know if I'm going to buy more of the Meross swithes. I got this one because I have the outroor plug from Meross and never had any issues with it and the outdoor plug works absolutely fine with Alexa, IFTTT and Google Home Assistant. BTW, I'm not promoting TP-Link, I'm new to smart homes and trying different devices and thought this review can help other IT enthusiasts. Update February 2019: with the new software update there is finally no delay of 2 seconds when turning the switch off. Adding another star.

Proper Router Setup - Extremely Important!
When I first came across this brand, I was a bit hesitant based on a lot of reviews stating that the device constantly loses connection. I've actually had the exact same experience till I dug a bit deeper and found a few things within my router's settings that make these devices a lot more stable. Now, these changes might not work for everyone's router, but I'm currently running an ASUS XT8 mesh router, IN MESH MODE, and have had zero issues connecting these devices to the 2.4ghz network nor do I have connection issues anymore. Meross technical support told me to remove my mesh setup and separate the bands which initially did help but I was still losing connecting from time to time randomly. What I ended up finding out is that if you make these devices have a Static IP as well as BIND them to a certain node (if you're running a mesh system), they work perfectly fine in Mesh mode. So now, I have 1 SSID, my routers are in the mesh setup I initially purchased them for, and I haven't lost connection to any of the 3 devices from this company in quite some time. The other reason I purchased these is that it works amazingly with all my automations through SmartThings. Such an easy fit into my smart ecosystem and all my routines have no issues running with these devices. Super impressed once the connection issues were gone. Finally, this Dimmer switch is easy to install and works as advertised. I wish you could program the different levels of brightness straight through the device itself, as 20% brightness in the morning is a bit much... I have it set up in the automation to change the brightness through Smartthings but if you didn't have a separate app, I could see it being a bit too bright in certain situations. All in all, a very simple light fixture to set up and use.

Good if you know what you’re doing
I already had a number of Meross plugs and a couple of switches and wanted to keep all the devices on the same app. When these went on sale during Black Friday I bought them. First, they work very well and integrate with Alexa perfectly if you know what you’re doing to have them recognized by the Alexa app after you install them. As for installation, if you don’t know which wires are which inside your current box, you’ll have trouble. The scant instructions don’t tell you anything except what each of the wires on the switch are SUPPOSED to be connected to. You don’t want to make a mistake here and potentially fry the switch or worse. If you’re doing a straight swap for an existing dimmer you should be ok if you know what you’re doing and/or label the wires as you remove them, but you may have just a mess of black (hot) and white (neutral) wires behind your faceplate and you need to know which black are coming in and which are going out. All to say, make sure you know what you’re doing. That being said, the switches fit just fine in an existing gang plate which was a relief. They do have a number of coloured leds to indicate on/of status and dimmer status. That may or may not be to your liking. Once installed and configured with Alexa, they work well, and can easily be controlled by simply specifying a dimmer percentage or just telling Alexa to “dim” the lights. It’s great. Of course you can just use the manual on/off and dimmer buttons too. I did have an issue getting these switches to initially install because you need to connect them directly to your phone or tablet via the wifi so the app can configure them and only THEN link them to your household network. There’s no other way to get the switch running. Repeatedly my phone would successfully establish a connection with the switch, but the app would insist I wasn’t connected, when I could see that it was. The installation was stalled rendering the Wi-Fi portion of the switch useless. I tried everything - cutting the power, restarting my iPhone - nothing seemed to work. So I went looking for Troubleshooting info with Meross. Nothing about this issue. I wrote to support, and I was surprised to get an email back a day later, all but acknowledging there is a known issue, but with no specific or definite solution. I decided to keep trying and eventually the app recognized the wifi connection and completed the installation. They really need to beef up their website when it comes to details about installation and potential problems. Waiting for a reply to an email when you’ve cut the power to part of your house and have wires hanging out of the wall and no light switches, isn’t great.

Works great and easy to install
I have been interesting in home automation for awhile. There's so many companies out there that do it that it's hard to choose. My master bedroom has a dimmer switch so I was looking for a smart switch for it. Originally I had a Caseta by Leviton (that included a hub) but then found this Meross one that doesn't need a hub. I did some research and it appeared that Meross and seamed like a reputable brand so I purchased it. It was well packed but sparse in installation instructions. It only had instructions to install the meross app which I did and was painless. I'm not electrically inclined but I managed to replace my old dimmer with this smart one - very painless; remember to turn off the power to your switch! I then proceeded to go through the wizard in the meross app to add the switch and lo an behold the wizard had the electrical install instructions! If you don't know what you're doing I suggest using the meross app wizard. There's also plenty of youtube videos on it. So far I have been very impressed. You can manually dim/lit/power or use the meross app. I also bought an Echo Dot and using Alexa to control the dimmer. Pretty sweet and slick. One thing to note though is if you are using Voice automation like Alexa, Google, or Apple then you don't need to stick with the same manufacturer. You can buy whatever brand - just the look and feel may be different with different brands. I like the Meross brand and will be sticking with them. Will be getting regular smart switches and as well as smart plugs.
