Works great, no problems
I bought the 1/4 and 3/8 inch kits because I'm using the wooden dowel pegs as holders for all of my sockets and I have a lot of sockets. It works great! So far I have drilled 26 holes into a 2x4 for my 26 metric 1/4 sockets. I have a lot more holes to drill yet and the bit and collar are both working great. I use the collar to set the depth obviously and use a drill press to ensure I drill straight. The brad point is very effective because I can get very precise. The dowels fit into the holes very well and snug. I see some people complain about the dowels being too loose. If they don't fit into the holes well and are way too loose then perhaps you are not holding your drill straight. Use a drill press if you can. Wooden pegs alone won't hold forever so I put a drop of gorilla wood glue in each hole. The pegs are working very well. I bought a container of dowel pegs of the Milescraft brand as well. I figure if you get the same brand then you get the same size of dowel pegs and won't run into problems. I have no complaints about this. The bit is not cobalt or anything fancy so we will see how long it holds up but so far it's great. The price is not bad either. I would recommend.

Quality error!
The package is marked 5/16" plugs but the drill and hardware are 3/8"! Clearly a Milescraft packaging error. Who knows how big of a production lot went out with this error. While I'm not blaming this on the the vendor I can't recommend anything from Milescraft for such a inexcusable error. Update.... I contacted Milescraft. They quickly (I mean next day!) contacted me and rectified the issue. I am satisfied that Milescraft stands by their products, insures quality and provides outstanding customer service. Inadvertent errors can happen and as long as they can be fixed, I'm a happy customer. Thus I will not hesitate purchasing Milescraft products in the future.

GREAT! Dowel joints are my new obsession.
AMAZING! I wish the blog and Pinterest world would catch on to dowel joinery instead of the WAY too popular kraig jig/pocket hole joinery. I own a kraig jig and have used it many times before I learned that pocket holes are not the way to go. I wish I never wasted my money on that thing and researched proper joinery from the start. This kit has been perfect for a complete dowel joint beginner such as myself, and I've seen no need to get a dowel jig. When you buy this, buy lots of dowels to go with it! And get a few clamps in different sizes and some wood glue. Honestly that's all you need. You'll want to build and fix everything.

Not great in a handheld drill/driver
I found the bit in this kit to be difficult to work with in a handheld drill/driver. It might be better in a drill press or a corded, high power hand drill. In my testing it took significant pressure to get the bit to bite into soft pine. I'm not sure it will work at all with hardwoods. I'm happy with the depth collar, the centering plugs, and the dowels. Overall this kit is a decent value, but I would probably replace the bit with a nicer 3/8 inch brad point bit. I got the Bosch brad-point bit which is available on Amazon and it's a vast improvement. This kit works pretty well with the cheap dowel jig by Bench Dog, also available from Amazon.

If you only need a couple of dowel pins works just fine. All that is lacking is a jig. I cut a small piece of 2x3 scrap lumber down and made my own one time 3/8" jig being careful to drill perpendicular to the base and side. Worked good enough for a repair. A jig is ridiculously expensive and the cheap ones are just about useless if you only need it once in a while for repairs. El kit es sencillo. La broca es buena, cuenta con buen filo. Los punzones son buenos fabricados en aluminio. Los pernos de madera que contiene el kit solo sirve para realizar las pruebas y para tener un referente de lo que debes conseguir. Pará ayudarte a armar algo de madera es bueno.

Es un paquete pequeño, la broca bien, los taquetes se ven muy bien, aunque pienso quedan chicos a la broca, el que si me convenció fue el tope de un grueso considerable lo ajuste a la broca y esta muy bien. De hecho hay un juego de varios topes de la misma marca que me supongo que están bien. Bien empacados y por DHL la mejor opción para envío.
