It helps

We have a small open metal insert gas fireplace in our condo. Measured carefully and this fits to cover most of the back. Heat output is about 30% better. At first we put too much in front of it. Once we cleared space in the front it worked good. I would call it an improvement. Also depends on the size of the room. It takes a while for the plate to heat up before it starts radiating.

Worth it

It's been very nice, I live in the south and don't use my fireplace as much as when I lived in a CO. But this is a must add to any fireplace. I would buy it again and have no regrets at all in my somewhat expensive purchase.

Gives add warmth to room

I really like this stylish cast iron fireback that fit my family room's fireplace perfectly. Good quality cast iron and it does add the much needed warmth we were looking for this winter.

Brings more heat in the house

It doesn't heat the home instantly but in time once the flames are directed on the iron it will warm up the whole room. For me my living room is approximately 800 sq feet.

Nice design: Well Built

The backer was built better than I anticipated. Not a great difference in warmth or heat output, but nevertheless an improvement. Fit perfectly

works well and protects my refractory panels.

The black paint will discolor and peel the first time you use this, but it is supposed to. This greatly covers the back wall of my pre-fab fireplace and protects it from the immense heat which was causing cracks to form in the refractory panels. It also helps reflect heat back into the room. It is extremely heavy and does exactly what I expected it to do. Very happy with this purchase. You can touch it up with black high heat paint after burning season and it will look new until next winter.

Impressed with the quality

Very pretty and works to throw heat. It seems a bit small in my standard fireplace.

It looks very nice. I wish I had ordered something a little bigger. This seems to be a hard type of item to order online, if you've never seen one in the store. It looks kind of smallish in the back of my fairly standard fireplace. This is true, even though I bought the feet to raise it up a couple of inches. It does a great job of hiding the cracked brick in the back of the fireplace, and it definitely pushes more heat into the room. People have to move away from the fire place when it gets going.
