A bit of fun, for weekend camping and for holidays.

This purchase was motivated by the desire for a relatively short string of rechargeable colored lights for my kitchen garden window. I found that I preferred a single color selection, as the color shifting option is oddly slow. Between holidays (Christmas, Valentine’s, St. Patrick’s…) it will go in my gear box for weekend campouts with the grandchild, who was delighted by these (no pun intended). I read reviews indicating the colored light set was slow to charge other devices with its solar panel, but purchased anyway because I never count on that option, camping under heavy forest or coastal fog much of the time. The decision to purchase this item was also due to very satisfactory experience with mPower white light strings that have gone from camp favorites to necessities, having seen bears pass by camp in the evening. The white lights charge up faster by USB, or over the course of a sunny day in my inland yard, and light a campsite from dusk to bedtime for more than week on one charge. The colored lights were lit most evenings in December on a single charge. Note: the photos are of a white light string on it’s dimmest setting (this set does not have the option of charging another devise.) The colored LED lights are softer.

Does not charge via solar panel

These lights are great. Super easy to string up around a tree and pretty much anywhere. The colors are nice and soft and not too bright. The one problem we have had is that the solar panel has never charged them. It just doesn't work at all. The only way to charge these is by plugging them in. No matter how much time you leave this light out in direct sun, it will not do a lick of good. Great concept, poor execution. Hopefully they will fix this issue.

For 18ft, I expected more lights

For 18 feet cord, I expected more lights. There are 10 lights. underwhelmed. The colors are nice, and there is a color transition setting. My application is inside a tent... ring inside the ceiling of the 4 person tent. should work, but would be happier with the purchase if there were 3-4 more lights. Its just a lot of cord for few lights.

Pretty cool

Make sure to get the white ones. The black one gets hot and cracks from the sun. Totally cool. I use them all the time when camping

Portable Solar Lights

Bought the white lights the same brand as this a few years ago and unfortunately the quality has gone down since then. Had the lights out in the sunshine trying to finish the charge for a fortnight and was starting to think there was an issue. Then I realised that the forth LED indicator light is not flush with the case and that is why it was fully charged but duller than the rest. The design is good and the colours are lovely.

I like this string lights for camping

Used this for camping and set it up to give some nice vibes to our site. The mode to switch from one color to another worked well for us. We used it for two nights, each night using it from dusk (around 6 or 7pm?) till midnight when we went to sleep and switched it off manually (would be nice if it had an auto timer off). At the end of camping it had 2 out of 4 "bars" of battery left. I did not charge it or place it under the sun. Many reviewers mentioned not being able to charge with solar. I did try to do so at home but since there is no indicator of charging when placed under the sun I could not tell. In the end just resorted to charging via USB. Nice product that packs the strings into the case when travelling.

Pretty for ambient lighting but not bright enough

I bought both this coloured version as well as the warm white version. The warm white version is significantly brighter. Pros: Very easy to use and charge. It is simple to hang as well as pack away when you're done with it. It is very portable. The lights themselves are very pleasant if used for ambient/mood lighting. The first setting of the transitioning colours was my favourite. Cons: The lights vary in brightness depending on the colour so if you want a brighter light it must be a bright blue, and if you want it dimmer, you can only choose purple or red.
