Baby hand and foot foam mold picture frame kit-Somewhat difficult to use as instructed
I ordered the Nuby Baby Hand and Footprint kit for my infant as a keepsake for our family. I have used similar kits that contain the white foam clay and roller to make ornaments. This kit comes with a frame, two bags of white foam clay, and a roller. There are very basic instructions with the kit that are omitting a few details that make the project turn out better. The first step is to ensure your hands are clean and that the baby's hands and feet are clean. This is not included in the directions but it is an important step to ensure that your foam stays clean. Also, ensure that your work environment is clean. My white foam clay had large black pieces throughout the clay. My work environment was clean and my hands were also. I discovered these pieces while rolling and cutting the foam clay. The clay was also much stiffer than other foam clays I have used. Getting a print took many attempts and too much pressure was needed to get a nice print. Only gentle pressure is normally needed and this resulted in a nearly invisible print. The wood roller is also much too short and creates indentations from the end of the roller into the foam. To avoid this look, flip the foam clay over after rolling and use the smooth surface from the underside. I initially tried to do this kit as instructed several times unsuccessfully. I found that I had to make two balls and flatten them out by hand and gently manipulate my babies hand and foot into the pieces. The foam was too stiff to get good prints when it was in the rectangular shape of the frame. I prefer the longer plastic rollers that are provided in similar kits. The frame is nice and seems to be decently made. If I have any issues after the prints dry, I will update. This foam clay and the wood roller are not as nice as I have seen in other kits. This took me a good deal of time even with my baby allowing me to try several times. I think this kit is nice once it is finished but it was not as easy as other kits available. The clay also contained unusual contaminates. I think it is still worth getting as a keepsake but the outcome may be variable and process may be time-consuming.

Have to press pretty hard
I got this to use on my youngest daughter. Although it's a nice enough size to accommodate a small handprint AND footprint or a larger handprint OR footprint, the material that you press the prints on is very strange. You have to knead it to make it more pliable and then roll it out (the roller they give you is very inadequate, I ended up using my kitchen roller). Once it's rolled out to the proper size and thickness, you press your child's hand and/or foot into it to make the print. I found that I had to press much firmer than I was really comfortable with to get a good imprint. I redid it 3 times and still didn't get as deep a print as I was hoping for. The material feels like a fluffy, somewhat stiff and springy, foam. It seemed like it sprang back up a bit every time I took her hand away. I'll most likely paint the handprint to make it stand out more. It takes a total of 3 days to completely dry, with turning it over after the second day. It curled a bit during those first 2 days but the material stays fairly pliable so once it's in the frame, it holds it flat again (as long as it's the right thickness). Overall, not bad but I'd like it more if I didn't have to press so hard to get a print. My daughter is old enough that she didn't mind but I don't know if I could have pressed that hard with an infants hand. 1 star - Awful! Want my money back! 2 stars - Bad but not horrendous. 3 stars - Decent/Good 4 stars - Really good! 5 stars - Excellent! Definitely recommend!

Clay is too hard
This is by the worst kit I have ever used. The frame is nice and that’s about it. I followed the instructions. The clay was not the easiest to use and they give you that tiny rolling pin. After rolling it out to get the perfect size to fit in the frame I used a pizza cutter to cut around the edges. So preparing to do the mold you practically have to push your child’s hand or feet into the clay. This crazy, it was tough. I was afraid I would hurt the baby if I applied anymore pressure. I have done one like this in the past with the first child and the mixing kit was much better. Although they’re messy you don’t have to apply so much pressure to your baby’s delicate hands and feet.

A NICE WAY TO REMEMBER SPECIAL EVENTS!!!
This set would make a really nice for new parents. It comes very nicely packaged for gifting.. It is totally easy and fun to use. The included instructions are easy to understand and follow. The clay (premixed and placed into two foil pouches - Yea!!!) reminds m3 of the polymer Sculpy clays, but if I remember right, you have to bake Sculpy clays and when you do, they give off a bad odor. This clay is for AIR DRYING. You just knead the clay to make it soft and pliable, roll it out with the included mini rolling pin, make your baby's hand and foot prints in the clay, and allow it to dry. EASY PEASY!!! Don't worry about messing up the prints. If baby moves and the print gets messed up, you just knead the clay and roll it out again. Once you have the prints positioned how you like them, you simply cut the clay to fit the place in the frame opening where they are supposed to go, then just let the clay dry according to package instructions. It really can't get easier than this! I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS KIT. It is a terrific way to remember special events in baby's life. It would make a wonderful gift for a new Mom and for Grandmothers!

Easy to work with
I've become really fond of the Nuby Clay kits, and like the others I've tried, this one didn't disappoint. I love that there are two photo openings. There's enough room to put the prints of two kids, or do a hand and a foot of one child. Alternatively, this could be used for pet paw prints! The clay is easy to work with, which hasn't been the case for other brands I have tried. Its easy to push a print into, which is important when you only have seconds to do so with a wiggling baby or pet. All in all, a quality product. This would make a beautiful gift as well!
