Would be perfect for new construction

These are pretty good but often times with shingle siding where there's existing windows, or houses have settled and fascia/freeze boards aren't perfect, you find yourself fudging courses to create the illusion that things are level and straight when really they're slightly off. These aren't great for that because you will constantly be adjusting. If everything is leveled nicely then you will be fine. Also note that a 3 1/2" board combined with these at the lowest setting offers a minimum 4 13/16" course line. I just ripped my 3 1/2" to 3 3/16" and was able to get to my 4 1/2" course lines. So basically, just make sure you have a table saw to rip those pieces if your course lines are below 4 13/16". They're a little snug to slide behind the shingle so make sure you're tilted out as to not scratch your new shingles with the backs of these. Ultimately, they're a welcome addition to my tool arsenal.

Well made, but the pivot point should be at the end of the tool like a t bevel. It would work better then and fit in more places.

Great tool but screw parts were loose in package

Great tool but horrible fasteners. I had to search the packaging for missing parts which I fortunately found. I am doubtful the fasteners will hold during the rigors of siding and only wish they designed it better and less flimsy.

Over priced but useful.

I bought this on a whim for a siding project figuring I’d just return it if it was garbage but I’ve found it surprisingly useful for siding gables. It’s aluminum, lightweight, and the adjust screw can be flipped to the other side easily. One thing that others have said is that this little screw will unwind itself eventually - I think I went through 40 planks before it popped out. I was lucky enough to find the screw and avoid the twisty tie repair, but I recommend using some lock tight on this screw right when you get it out of the box! Happy siding everyone :)

FIRST TIME I USED THIS THE THUMB SCREW AND WASHERS ALL FELL OUT.

NEED BETTER HARDWARE TO HOLD IT TOGETHER. THE OTHER PARTS OF THIS ARE OK. BUT IF YOU BUY THIS BE PREPARED TO HAVE TO JACK WITH IT

Excellent guide!

I read the reviews about this item and wondered about it’s quality, but having to be accurate with cuts on a current project I gave it a try. Reviews said it was flimsy and you could lose screws easily, so I paid close attention to making sure the screws were tight. I love this scribe, it has a great design and is easy to use with perfect results. This item is probably not going to work for you if you find yourself frequently throwing your tools into the back of your truck at the end of the day, or if you give it to your lead man of a large crew. Treat it like a precision instrument, i.e. a laser level or transit and it’ll work just fine. The cutting guide works perfectly with the SS424 Snapper Shears.

Hmmm

Broke the first day we had it I used it maybe 3 times and the screws fall out into the mud and we can’t find them.. awesome way to spend 100.00 on a tool that’s supposed to be heavy duty and breaks the first day instead. Please fix thisUPDATE... company still hasn’t reached out completely horrible do not buy

Don’t expect this to work with all trims

As nice as this would have been it seems it really only works if you want a large reveal, I wish that first plate was adjustable to go into the trim deeper, so it’s essentially useless on the first setting forcing you to use a larger gap under the siding. Hopefully will work good in the future with other projects but not for small reveals.

Flimsy and not a tool that you can rely on to do an accurate, professional job. If you want to do a crappy job, use this tool. Don't waste your money, like I did.

To much play

The screw on the aluminum arm for the cross brace is loose and won't hold an angle. Gives ¼inch play

The product feels cheap and was stiff , you would expect the road glide smoothly open

Product felt cheap right out of the box the plates were mislined and not adjusted and it failed to open smoothly right out of the box
