Tap them into place to seat them all the way!

These worked like a charm! Here's the experience... I installed a crankshaft pulley on a vehicle with the supplied hardware and used blue loctite. Standard procedure. Then I found out the pulley is too small and I need a different size. I went to remove the button head allen bolts and each one just strips no matter what I do. I used heat to loosen up the loctite. Still they just strip. My allen socket is in good shape. The bolts seem super soft and shallow so they just strip. There's not much one can do to access crankshaft bolts that are recessed without removing everything in front of the engine. After some research I found these. Mostly positive reviews and some negative. I figured I'd try them and take the advice of others to tap this into place before turning them. It was tight quarters but I could get a bunch of small taps in to make sure these extractors seated properly. And the tapping to seat them was noticeable. I could see them dig in. If one didn't properly seat them I could see them not working and just stripped the bolts even more. So these pulled out all 6 shallow button head allen bolts that have been loctited in place without any issue whatsoever. They worked perfectly. Keep them seated with pressure and slowly turn. They bit so hard I had to use pliers to remove the bolts from the extractors. 100% success and not one slip of the socket. I removed one star because the one fitting I needed was rusty on arrival. I've owned some tools for 20 years and none of them are rusty. I worry the rusty one might not last as long as the others that are clean. Some of that rust goes down to the tip that fits into the allen head bolts. In conclusion, hope you don't get rusty tools and if you tap them in real good and keep pressure on the socket as you turn they will likely come right out. The socket extractors work great in situations where you can't use standard methods of bolt removal due to cramped or recessed locations.

Removed the stripped locking hub bolts!

Sprayed penatrating oil on my locking hubs a full day before tapped it with a hammer, no luck 2 of the 5 bolts started to strip. I stopped before really rounding them off, Then ordered these. I tapped them in with a hammer to make aure they were fully seated, pulled the bolts out no problem. These are a fantastic addition to any toolbox.

These things are freaking awesome!!

I literally don't even use standard allen keys anymore. These work with stripped or non stripped allen screws and bolts. If you use them on non stripped screws and bolts they will not strip out!! They bite better and prevent stripping before it ever happens!! I love these things!!

Works!

Had a hex bolt stripped on a tractor at work, tapped this in the hex design, unscrewed the bolt out easily! Definitely worth the money and ideal for your tool box.

Worked well....

As long as the hole isn't completely rounded out these work pretty well. I ended up lightly pounding them into the hole then used a socket wrench to carefully extract the bolt. Took a couple tries but it worked.

One stubborn allen screw from crazy

Sturdy- bolt itself stripped so I drilled it just under the size of one of these allens and hammered it in. Worked great and no damage viable to tools.

Worked like a charm.

Put a bit of heat on the stripped Allen head bolt tapped the bit on with a hammer and it game right out. I hope I don’t have to use them again but worth the money for the ease of effort.

THESE THINGS ACTUALLY WORK

I had my doubts but these bits really work. I bought them after slightly stripping an 8 mm Allen bolt that holds in the tensioner pulley for the drive belt on a 2007 Honda Civic. Mind you this Allen bolt goes directly into the engine block and had been held in place torqued to the 40 foot lb spec for 15 years. I was terrified of stripping the bolt any further and having to replace the entire engine block, so I purchased these with hopes that they would help me get enough leverage to break the 40 ft lbs. after lots of slipping and failing due to the lack of space i had to work with under the car behind the wheel, I finally pulled it with all my strength and heard the bolt break free from the years of corrosion build up and began to unscrew. The teeth on this tool did the trick so well that it seems the 8 mm is now permanently attached to the bolt. Luckily I had purchased another boat as a back up wish I was able to use to put the pulley back on. 100 out of 10 would recommend these attachments. Incredible. Saved me the arm and the leg the dealer would charge me to drop the engine block and remove this bolt.
