Does the job

Needed this to keep contractors who are working in the house away from my valuable tools and stored items in my garage. This is a better solution (for me) than buying and installing a new keyed doorknob or latch and padlock. Comes with two keys. Easy to "install;" just put it around the existing door knob and locked it up. It's sturdy, well-made and easy to use. I would recommend this product.

Good option to keep people out of a room that does not have a lock

We purchased this to use during an estate sale so we could put items not for sale away. The lock is easy to use, and fits around a standard doorknob. It could probably be broken but will act as a good deterrent.

The Warning Though

So far, so good. Thank God, the lock is working to help me monitor my dementia patient (by preventing him from sneaking out and potentially getting lost outside). But... This warning label on the back of the packaging has me wondering how?

Works great

Needed something to keep a five year old from running outside without an adult. The so called child proof door knob covers are flimsy and he can easily get them off. Eith this item he is no longer able to run outside alone. It kerps him safe which makes us all happy.

heavy metal and sturdy

I gave this a 4 because the locking mechanism comes out easily , but you can just pop it back in, in an unlocked position and once it's in a locked position it can't come out because of the bar that crosses on the inside of this thick heavy metal. I think the problem is the plastic washer that goes around the mechanism deteriorates very easily , which allows the locking mechanism to come out when it's in an unlocked position. Overall , I have bought a bunch of these for different purposes. The thick metal bar that crosses the inside , when in a locked position , and the thick heavy metal of this outer frame will keep anyone from taking this thing off easily , if at all without a key. Also it's so close to the door itself that it will be awkward to try to get off with out a key!...great for 'roommate' circumstances , or in my case a mother with dementia ( to keep her out of rooms with important papers, etc. !!!
