Terrific plugs for specialty application
I have used Radian earplugs using sound baffling technology for years. It is important to read the review which discusses constant and damaging loud sounds vs impact-like sounds of short duration. While these plugs may have a low rating against constant sound, they work well against the sharp report of gunfire, hammer blows, and tools like Ramset-type powder actuated nailers. They are no good against constant high pitched noise from chain saws, mowers, leaf blowers, industrial machinery. Within that limitation, they are great! They protect hearing; they allow normal conversation, they allow one to hear warnings and safety instructions, and finally, they allow some venting and air introduction into the ear passage which prevents moisture buildup, and aids in long term comfort. I have done construction with nail guns; I have performed instruction in both military and civilian firing ranges for many years. I prefer to use this type of hearing protection whenever possible. I have worn these plugs for up to 8 hours and then founnd myself driving home and talking to others...and forgot to take out my plugs! You have seen reviews where some folks find these plugs are too large for their ear canals. I have never run into this problem with trainees. Even my daughter has used them. Perhaps some folks try to insert them backwards? In any case, they offer freedom that muffs cannot offer. They don't interfere with head gear. They don't result in sweaty ears and muff-fatigue. They offer protection, yet the ability to hear. Be aware, however, that the sound control the Cease Fire Sound Baffler Ear Plugs offer will likely not be enough in presence of firing rifles or handguns while at indoor ranges or while under roof on the firing line. Those situations along with firing large caliber rifles with muzzle brakes might even require double ear protection in extended sessions (use of muffs AND solid ear plugs).

These plugs only form an effective seal if you push them in far enough to be painful. They seem to provide enough protection to guard against intermittent loud noises in an otherwise quiet environment, but are not sufficient for loud environments or situations with extremely loud intermittent noise. They are also much too uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. I think that the reason they are so uncomfortable for me is that in order to get a good seal in the ear canal, they have to be inserted far enough to engage all of the flanges; and once they're that far in, the big back section is pressing against the ear. They would probably be much better if the flanges were closer together -- and the back part was further away from the last one. For people with smaller ears, they may be painful because of the depth to which they need to be inserted. Again, flanges spaced closer together, closer to the tip -- and farther away from the back part -- would allow them to seal without having to go in so far. It would also be nice to have a cord on them, so that they can be easily removed periodically, to give the ears a chance to recover without losing the plugs or getting them dirty in a pocket. Good concept -- not such a great application of the concept. More R&D is needed before a new version of these would be worth recomending. I'm very dissapointed. I would really like a pair of plugs with this level of protection (safe from intermittent loud noises, while able to hear everything else) at this price-point, but these are just too painful to wear.

pretty good plugs
pretty good plugs, I tested them out this fourth of July while lighting fire crackers. They did help muffle the sharp crack and you can hear pretty good other wise. They dont blank out noise like some others seem to claim, just reduces it. I dont know how much I would like them at the range with lots of other guns shooting. These seem like they would be good for someone who wants to wear ear protection while hunting and still be able to hear most other things.

can I say WOW
The sound is almost as though you are not wearing it, high fidelity and clear. When you shoot it silences it great! BUT they are huge, it barely fits in my normal/large ears. I wish it fit better they would be my go to ear protection for construction and farm work I do. But I will keep them in my shooting bag because an hour of wear is about all i can handle, because they hurt my ears.

Meh...
I bought these about 3 years ago. In the beginning there were a little soft but would not easily fit into my ear canal. Today they have hardened quite a bit and will only go in my ear with difficulty. I don't think that I would get these again, as the soft foam ear plugs work just as well and I can get a nice quantity of them for the same price that I got these for.
