Great Ice Breaker

I recently bought this online within a 24 hour notice of my Mom coming over to see my new place. I wanted something we could do together and instantly thought of Scrabble because we are both English snobs lol anyway I got it next day delivery and it really made the night go really smoothly. Anyway. I am stoked on this purchase. Great packaging as well.

Nice game

My wife and I play Scrabble every day while having lunch. We wore out the old game. Some food stain problems, etc. were getting in the way. I ordered this retro game to replace the old one since we both liked the look of the old game. The bottom line is that, it is nice, well made and quite like the original. The reason for the four stars is a common problem today. The quality of the board and the wooden tiles are not up to the quality of the old ones. With that in mind, we play about 400 games a year and it will likely last us many years.

Wood tiles

Yes, wood tiles, but cheaper wood than the original Scrabble sets. The original Scrabble had nicely finished quality wood pieces. But at least the tiles and stands are wood, not plastic.

Not to be picky…but….

The game LOOKS the same, except everything is about 25% smaller - the board, the tiles, the tile holders - die hard scrabble players will notice it right away; others may not. The font on the tiles is different. All items are also slightly lesser quality - thinner board, tiles & tile holders. cheaper wood, cheaper bag. If you never had a scrabble set before, it’s probably fine. If you are trying to replace missing components of an original set, they won’t match.
