Beautiful Handle& Lock set

Needed a Handle& lock set to finish installation of our new front door. Quickset makes a similar set but I found the locking mechanism& finish of the Schlage set to be more substantial. Both are great companies with a long history- Quickset is great if you would like to set all your locks in the home to one key. Schlage’s deadbolt is all metal solid construction with added security of anti picking& bumping feature. Peace of mind is always a good thing. Our carpenter did mention not to use the included template to install your door handle. He said most of the time they’re wrong& you only have one shot to drill those holes. Take your time& measure it out yourself, you don’t want to ruin a beautiful new door.

BEWARE - CHECK HOLE DIMENSIONS!

Bought this to replace a 27 year old Baldwin that was looking shabby, and my wife wanted a black(ish) one anyway. Info says "Adjustable throughbolt can move up and down 1-1/2 in. to fit a variety of pre-existing holes", so I thought OK they got this covered. So with the Baldwin removed, I repainted both sides of the door. Then I took the new Schlage out of the box to installed. That's when I discovered the Baldwin is some 2" shorter than the Schlage! Had to plug the lower hole with some epoxy putty, sand it, repaint both sides, and drill a new hole. If you look at the second picture on the web page, it does give the dimensions, though saying "fits most existing door preps". So I got blind-sided by this. In retrospect, we like it a lot, and may well have purchased it knowing the above. So I am giving it a high rating. But if I knew beforehand I would have plugged the old hole and drilled a new one before painting.

Chipped but works..

The only thing that made me mad was that it came with a small chip in the handle box looked opened like it was dropped or something. Really needed one badly so couldn’t return unfortunately. It was expensive for coming damaged.

Amazing quality

After not being able to find this configuration in store I went with an equivalent style made by kwickset that had identical security ratings. Upon pulling the kwickset out of the box I immediately noticed a much lower construction quality that the Schlage that I eventually bought online. Compared to the kwickset the Schlage has a thicker heavier bolt, and much more robust installation hardware. The key even looks more complex, I'm not an expert on lock construction but to the layman's eye this set is far superior in construction and quality. Would buy again.

Amazing quality and looks.

Looks great and it's a quality product. The install might be a little hard if you don't have all the right tools. I needed a drill, screwdriver, chisel and a hammer. Once installed the deadbolt works smooth like butter.

Good product with color somewhat more black than bronze.

The antique bronze color leans more to black mate. Expected color to be somewhat lighter.

Solid quality dependable set

We had to replace a new front door, we had experience with these units / brand / model in the past, worth every cent. Strong construction, solid cylider and locking mechanism. Easy install via all the provided instructions and templates.
