Beware third party resellers
This was originally shipped to us by an Amazon, third-party reseller, and they sent us a used unit. It didn’t even work, it was obviously an RMA, because the RMA letter showing, who originally received it, was still in the box! The blanket was just jammed into a cardboard box with no Packaging, and the cabling was all tangled up. I got a replacement from Amazon, which came from the same reseller, but this time they sent a new in box item. The item itself works very well, and I really like the digital display over the old style knob. I do wish that the display would have an option to stay like this all the time, because it’s hard to tell if it’s on, by just looking at the controller, which I normally keep slightly under the bed. Other than that, the fleece is exceptional, the power is terrific, and the heat is wonderful. I don’t want to ding the product for the resellers misdeeds, so I’m still giving it five stars.

Strong chemical odor
Feels good, seems much warmer and more consistant heat than my other electric blankets but the chemical smell is making me sick. I was thinking it was flame retardant, but few others seem to have this issue. Noticed it *after* using it, so I'm thinking it's over-heating (possible fire hazard!) and am exchanging for another like it. I'll update my review when I get the replacement! ***** UPDATE: Got my replacement, Amazon made the return/replacement proces *easy*! The replacement did have a chemical smell sort of like mothballs right out of the bag, this was not as bad as the vomit/benzene smell the previous one suddenly had when heating up. This time I washed it with odor removing detergents, dried it and then spread it out *sherpa fleece side up* for a week to "off gas" whatever the chemical was. So far seems to be much improved. But this blanket doesn't seem nearly as warm as the one with the extreme odor, maybe it was overheating. My guess is these are chemically treated with flame retardant chemicals which then reacts to the hot wires. Washing it *before* turning it on seems to have helped tremendously.

Saved me this winter
Im not a fan on turning on my heater so this blanket really save me on that front. Especially since im the stereotypical “always cold” girl this was a major win for me. Even after a few months of near constant use its still going strong.

This cord to way too short!!
I read the other reviews, but did not see the ones saying the cord was short. I ordered one in brown and it actually was an awful shade of brown, didn't even open it, but set in where I was and decided that I just did not like the color. Returned that one and ordered a red one. When it got here I opened it up took my old one off the bed and unfolded it, got out the cords to put under my bed and set the control on the headboard. But wait! This blanket has two separate hookups for the controls and uses two outlets and the hookups are on the bottom on each corner and the cords will not get anywhere near the headboard, because the cords are too short. How practical is this? You have to leave the control on the floor somewhere in the vicinity of chest level. I see that some put the cord between the mattress and the box spring, That isn't recommended either, and there is no other way to get the control on the headboard. Boxed it back up, called it unsuitable and returned it. The blanket heated up good, but I was not going to work around having a control somewhere that is not within a reasonable reach. Zero points for trying to save money by shorting the cord on the controls.

Only One Negative
We have had this electric blanket for a couple of weeks and are well satisfied with the blanket itself and the comfort of use. The only problem is the electrical cord from the plug at the foot of the bed to the controller is too short. We have to leave the controllers under the edge of the bed since the cord is not long enough to reach the nightstand. The controller buttons are large so you can adjust the temperature with your toes before getting into bed, but if you want to change the setting, you have to get back out of bed.

Works well
Even without the heat activated this sherpa backed blanket is warm. Love the built in timer since I used to have to wake up and turn my old blanket off. I would say the one problem is there is no hooks or anything to hang the controller up with.

Top Seam
With my old blanket I would be on 9 or 10 for heat but this is more than warm at 4. But the seam on top is a roll not a flat seam. Always in the way. Putting my arm out I'm conscious of it pressing against my arm or armpit.
