don't grip that well
I use a LOT of screws in construction. I like Simpson products, but use a bunch of other screws too, usually Torx. For areas on treated wood, of course one would like a screw that was resistant. I like the modified truss heads, cause they really suck the boards together. I thought that this screw would do the job and was of a decent diameter that and coating that it would be fine for PT wood rather than just a zinc coating. (yes, of course I could go for stainless, but those are pricey and I thought that sometimes these would be fine. I was not very impressed with how these drove however. With my impact driver, set at the same tork as I had for other screws, these often stripped out the hole. Looking at the threads, there seems to be a place on the threads that sort of reams out the hole, but does too good a job of it. I'll go back to the SDS Simpson screws, Hot dipped.

These screws are awesome
I use the Simpson structural screws as part of my building reinforcements to resist high wind forces where I live and build. They drive very easily, don't strip the wood out at the threaded end, and are very strong to resist bending and shearing.
