Intriguing and fun to introduce.

My son loves STEM toys and projects. I am always looking for new ways to keep his brain busy. He loved this one so much that I had to go buy him the big one for 8 yr and up. My kid will not focus on anything he's not interested in. This has provided him with hours of fun creating the connections and making the fan light up. He loves the egg and uses it in his bigger kit too, because it's like a lampshade he says.

Should have went with a bigger kit.

I'm an EE and bought this as a Christmas gift for my 7yr old daughter to help show her what I do for work. She's been receiving KiwiCo crates for almost 2 years and absolutely loves them, so thought this would be a good fit. Once explaining a few basic concepts and how to follow the instructions, she was able to start making the projects in the book on her own. The LED fan quickly became a favorite of hers and was soon basing almost every design around it. My only real complaint with this kit is that it needs more of the blue connector pieces, since it frequently hindered her ability to modify and tinker with some of the circuits. If she told me what she wanted to accomplish, I could usually find a way to do it with the available pieces, but is much more gratifying when she can do it herself. However, after only a few sessions with the kit, all the book's projects were exhausted and even though we played around with variations of them, she quickly lost interest. I can't blame her either, there's only so many times you can connect an LED or buzzer to a button before it loses its appeal. I don't fault the product and am actually quite impressed at how well the snap concept works (vs the spring & wire kits of my day), but in hindsight wish I'd spent a few more $ and bought one of the larger kits like the Elenco Jr. SC-100 instead.

A Great Product

I bought this as a gift for my 5 year old twin grandson. He's always been very inquisitive. We worked on the directions together. His 5 year old twin sister watched and his 3.5 year old brother patiently watched and waited their turn. After building the first project together, they all could build on their own. The directions are very easy to follow. A month later he's building all kinds of things on his own. He said that he loves his gift!!!! Wow! Next birthday, I'll get another set!

Great but...

I like the system that I got for my 5 year old. The pieces are convenient for little hands and seem sturdy - except for the battery box. My 5 year old stripped the tiny screw, turning it the wrong way to begin with, and now we can't open it. I ordered the battery replacement kit, but was very disappointed with the fact that I had to order more parts or send it back right after getting it. It would be a 5 star gift had it not been for this issue.

Excellent starter set

Got this for my four year old daughter to let her experiment with some very basic electrical circuits and she’s loving it. The pieces are a bit hard to assemble and she sometimes needs a little bit of help but the instructions are great and we get to explore different circuits and experiments together. I wish the variations would be a bit more different, some of them feel very much the same, just a different light for example. But overall great value for the money.

My son loves it

It’s a cool concept but it seems quite overpriced to be honest. I would say $25 tops maybe 15 would be better. However my son still enjoys it and that’s what matters.

Great set, but don't use the egg...

This set was perfect for my 5-year-old to tackle with minimal guidance! My only complaint is that the red/yellow LED is a bit flimsy. When you put the egg on it, the egg acts as a lever and when in the hands of a 5-year-old this means a quickly broken LED connector. My husband had no sooner resoldered it than my son took it and broke the remaining connector. Not worth the money to replace imo. We just borrowed an LED from another set.

Not so durable for kids

Some of the items (like the light with cover) just stopped working after a very light use. It is a very cool concept but for young kids its not so durable. for kids it should be more solid as even removing the light cap really lightly just damage the circuit. Recommended as if you are paying close attention and help the kids using it but not durable enough, mine were destroyed after few minutes of usage (we never had toys destroyed that fast). It is very small electronics but nothing that support the circuits from being ruined even with normal usage.

Really Nice Toy

Bought this for my 8-year-old son, he is mostly interested in his PC so bought this small set as was not sure he would be interested. It was a present from Santa so just got around to taking a look. It's well built and the instructions are easy to follow, my son had to be prised off his PC to play with this, but did enjoy it. He was soon able to build the models and it gave him a great sense of achievement. He wants to take it to school and show his friends which is great, too early to see if his interest will last but hope it does as I like it as well and want to get bigger sets!

Kids love it

We gave this to our 4 yr old grandson, and he runs home from his summer day camp every day to play with it. It provides both independent play and parental interaction. We live 3000 miles from him, and he sends us videos of the things he's made. Excellent toy.
