High quality product, from US based company

I felt I was misled a bit by product description because I read something that made me believe this shower set was manufactured in the USA, but it was not. Also the retaining strap was not the right size for the pipe. But it is well designed and built and it does not seem that a correctly sized strap will be needed. It dresses up our basement shower and the mixing valve will prevent the severe temperature swings when water is used elsewhere in the house. I am happy with it. Speakman seems to be a brand that concentrates in the commercial market, not in residential. So this product is probably of more rugged design and build than is the average one you might find for a residential application. Plumbers like Speakman and I feel that says a lot.

Beautiful unit - mixer valve very nice!

Great quality and style. Installed in outdoor shower. Required additional anchoring as shown in photos but worked great. Used 100% Amazon parts including 4’ stainless braided faucet hoses, adapters, elbows, 4” ss pipe nipples and connected all with Sharkbite adapters to underground PEX lines and tied into home plumbing with same. Big plumbing job but lots of fun laying out and designing it all! Used two sharkbite 12” sillcocks with hose adapters out of the basement wall and 18” braided ss faucet hoses out of the faucets to the underground PEX and tied these into copper plumbing in basement with sharkbite t-fittings and inside shutoff valves. Set up so whole unit is removable for winter storage and line blowout. First experience using PEX and sharkbite and it was really good. Ran 100 ft PEX hot and cold underground to remote shower enclosure. Cutting into main 3/4 copper pipe supply lines for sharkbite T-adapters felt like coronary bypass surgery on my home - that part was the hardest and most worrisome but with lots of prep and careful cuts and deburring the sharkbite connectors worked flawlessly! Saves a couple grand in plumbing $. Great project and end result. Nothing like an outdoor shower :)

Remove mixing valve before freeze

Similar to a few other reviews...found out after the fact that the temperature mixing valve must be removed and drained and/or stored in above-freezing environment or it will crack both the casing around the mixing valve, as well as the interior of the valve itself. I had thought that removing the drain plug on the bottom of the exterior valve casing - and shutting of the water to the outside shower - would do it, but they cracked. I had tried repairing the casing - which worked - but the mixing valve assembly itself must have fractured as it continued to leak in both on and off valve positions.

You'll have to get more pieces on your own

I do rally like the unit, but it truly doesn't come with everything you need. It has ONE tiny piece that is supposed to whole the heavy unit up and it doesn't cut it-- it just slides down that little strap. So-- you can see we used some long green screws underneath to hold it for now til we can secure it better. But-- it doesn't really come with all you need. For those looking to just attach to a garden hose-- you can do it-- it will cost an extra $30 or so. You need hose adapters ($5 each) and 2 hoses ($10 each). We also had to buy 4-way hose splitter. We don't have pipes to run out to the shower--it's just for the pool so cold water is fine-- just get 2 hoses and 2 adapters. It will not work with only one hose even if you manually shut off the hot on the shower device. Good luck!

Improved mounting points (2021)

I thought many folk would be interested to know it appears they have updated this model such that there are actually four mounting screw holes/tabs behind the valve now so you can optionally screw it into the wall. Previous reviews mention that there was almost nothing to hold this in place, which was a major concern of mine, but this has been addressed both in the product and the installation docs that come with the valve.

Works great and no installation issues

Being used in an outdoor shower in northern Michigan. Works great and no installation issues. Even though it has a drain plug, I would not recommend it be left outside in freezing temperatures as I am not sure all water drains from the valve assembly. I would buy it again. Update (2017): Still working good but I have taken it down from the outdoor shower each fall and stored it in the basement the last two winters. One thing to note......the handle only controls the water temperature. As you turn it clockwise the water gets hotter. There is no adjustment on it for the volume of water coming out. (However, the shower head does have a water saving restrictor on it). I now have a rain shower head on it and use the hot/cold water supply valves to reduce the water volume.

Simple streamline outdoor shower

I love this outdoor faucet’s simple look. Its coating is still shining after 3 months without water spots. I did hire a plumber to install it.

Excellent shower valve

We went with galvanized metal walls for our indoor shower and wanted something to match and be installed with little chance of water getting to the walls. The attached photos are the results. It was VERY tricky getting the hot/cold water lines hooked up. Overall we are very pleased with this. FYI, the extension in the photo did not come with this kit.

Shower assembly well constructed

I used this product in an outdoor shower and it is perfect for this application. Well constructed, easy to install and functions very well. I installed it to allow for easy removal in winter.
