Must have tool for Lawn mower maintenance
best cheap tool to sharpen your lawn mower blade. disconnect ignition and shut off al lawn mower ***Safety is extremely important*** dont' skip.... attach it this tool to a drill, hold the blade with one hand (with thick hide gloves) and use the other hand to hold the drill and sharpen the blade -- make sure blade is in between the plastic and rock part of the tool. watch a youtube video and you'll understand... simple and cost effective. one more tip, don't mow your lawn on wet days -- you're asking for trouble.

Works great except when the plastic starts to melt. It goes down to the bottom of the "V" so then you can't sharpen things anymore. But there's still the other side of the stone that works great

Would Work in a Pinch...
Is not a substitute for removing blades and a bench grinder. If you can get the mower high off the ground, have a really good cordless drill and you have a very steady hand to hold the correct angle, a decent sharpening can be achieved with time. Carrying a spare set of sharp blades and a wrench is still the best solution when away from the shop.

Really doesn't put much of an edge on my lawn mower blade. I can do much better and faster using my flat single cut hand file

Backing plate becomes to flimsy and pliable as it heats up,to do a decent job.
