Not for Ryobi Trimmer

I ordered this trimmer head for my Ryobi trimmer. Fits the way it should, although much less sturdy than the original. A problem arose when attempting to affix the nut assembly. The threading is the exact opposite to the reverse threading on my Ryobi. Can't imagine how forward threading (righty-tighty, lefty-loosey) could ever work. Re-attached the original and prayed it continues to work until I can find another replacement. Rest assure it will not be another from this manufacturer. You do your homework, think your getting the right product and it still is wrong and frustrating!

Single channel for both strings.

Single channel for both strings results in frequent tangles. Virtually impossible to wrap string so that there is no overlap at some point. The string provided is a little on the thin side and wears/ breaks off quickly.

Went right on and fit good

It works real good for me. But I couldn't find the replacement spools with the line on it.

Exactly What I Needed

Homelite came out with a 'handy-dandy' new design that supposedly winds new string on faster....and of course it doesn't work...and of course Home Depot (where I bought the Homelite trimmer) didn't have the old style spool that actually works but guess what.....good ol' Amazon had it. P,S. I didn't give it 5 stars only because 'what's to love' about a string trimmer head ?

Fits and works but durability is questionable.

Bought this late last summer, so it has seen less than a season of use. It just lost one of the metal grommets through which the string feeds. It also lost the little metal plug that retains the bolt in the "bump" button early on (but then they all do that!) A big chunk of plastic broke out of the side of the spool about the same time the grommet came loose. In all fairness though, we give weed trimmers a real work out on the farm, but the OEM part (no longer available) had better service life. I now need to buy another head (will probably order two so I have one for a back-up.)

Better than the original parts

Very durable hub and line, am having better luck than with the original parts that came with the trimmer. No installation instructions, but there are lots of Youtube videos that can help. Quick shipping and arrival, great product and seller.

Fits and Works Perfectly

I bought this for an old Homelite ST-145. What a great trimmer it has been. 30 years and still going strong. Just about wore out the trimmer head so thought I should get one before they can’t be got. Everything fit and operated as it should. The only reason for the 4 star rating is the string that it comes supplied with is absolute crap. Like it does the job alright but splits in half the full length of the cutting line. I’ll be taking that off and restringing it. I always like reading Amazon reviews from people who complain about a purchase not working for them when in fact they are themselves to blame because they bought the wrong part for their machine. Do your homework folks. This string head doesn’t have a divider between the two lines. You don’t need one if you are buying this for the right machine. My OEM head didn’t have a divider and as I said, 30 years of trouble free service. If the threading of the bump knob is incorrect again you bought the wrong part. But it’s easy to fix. Set the bump knob over an open vise. With a punch drive the bolt out which will knock out the retaining plug. Do the same on your old bump knob and then use that bolt in the new one. It ain’t rocket science folks. Don’t worry, be happy!

Had to use the left hand thread bolt and wire spooler my old unit... - So.... Not the exact parts but I made it work...

String trimmer head sans 385-256

So I’ve been using this head set up for a month now and I got to say I’m very happy. I have a Homelite bandit 135 sx And if it’s like a charm. Highly recommend it works well
