What a STRONG BOXER-PROOF GATE - LOL!!!
We've had Regalo gate for a few years. Regalo is a great gate if you don't have a determined dog like we do. Our Boxer kept snapping it open. If he leaned his paws up to the top of the gate, his weight would push it out of the doorway. We had to attach another gate with a bungee hook as you can see in a second picture. We replaced the gate a few times because our Boxer kept breaking it Even with a new Regalo gate, we had to keep using that 2nd gate with the bungee hook on both gates to prevent him from pulling the gate open. This SUMMER gate is freaking AWESOME!!! I've only had it a couple of weeks but I've not had to use a second gate yet. Appears our boxer has not figured out how to open it. We've turned the gate around so it opens differently and it's more difficult for him to snap it open. The gate is strong enough for him to get up on it and lean and push on it and bark at whoever he wants to. It holds vert strong and it STAYS IN the doorway. Most highly recommend this gate especially if you have an escape artist Boxer like we do. Our kitchen is now safe so no more old trash, bags of baking flour or breakfast cereal on the rug, for now..lol!!! Thank you SUMMER!!

It’s a gate
Pretty sturdy. Easy to install/assemble. Loud & clunky but definitely works. I bought for the bedroom door, keep in mind that you might want the shorter one if using in a doorway where you sometimes might want to close the door. The tall is right at doorknob level.

Works well for keeping puppy away from the cat food
We got one of these to keep the new puppy out of the kitchen and away from the cat food. Ended up getting a second so another doorway could be closed. We chose this one because the additional add-on extenders will let us move them to a couple of wider hallway areas once we expand the puppy’s roaming area. This is not a “quick install” gate, as you have to at least attempt to get it lined up properly, straight and square, and use a tool (provided wrench) to tighten it against the door frame. So it’s not something you’ll be moving around a lot. The rubber pads on the adjusting bolts that go against the door frame are sticky enough, on their own, that we haven’t needed to use the screw-in cups to keep it from moving - and that’s saying something when your 30 pound 3-month old puppy is jumping up against the gate because he things he’s going to die of starvation and he sees you making his food in the kitchen. Of course, if it were at the top of stairs, or we were using this for any kind of life/safety concern for a child, we would secure them fully. They do rattle a bit as you open/close them, so don’t expect a silent operation. Once you get used to how the latch works, it’s pretty easy to go though. I’m certain there are more elegant and finished/silent products out there, but for the money, these are perfect.

You need to pull the gate door up to open and it makes NOISE.
PROS: Very sturdy. Assembly is easy. It comes with everything you may need (adhesives, screws, wall protector, tool) and the instructions are clear. I was able to do it by myself, and I even messed up at the beginning by cutting the zip tie that had the note to cut it at the end only. I attached the gate to the wall using the adhesives and the wall protectors, I did not screw the gate to the wall. CONS: It advertises that you just have to slide the mechanism at the top and push the gate door open in order for it to open. That is a lie. You also have to pull the gate door up, since the two bottom stoppers prevent the gate door from sliding freely in either direction. So what you end up finding out is that in the process of pulling the gate door up, the metal hinge of the door will screech like a banshee. I got around this by putting a little bit of oil around the top hinge. But I'm still pretty annoyed that I have to pull the gate door up in order for it to open, so what I have been doing is just go over the gate (30 inches tall, I'm 5'4").

LATCH GAP IS INTENTIONAL READ BEFORE YOU RETURN IT
When my husband got everything out of the package and ready to install in the doorway he noticed that there was an exceptionally large gap at the latch, between the gate door and where it’s supposed to latch into locked position. It seemed like this would prevent one from closing and latching the gate entirely. We were going to return it but then, I understand basic engineering and physics enough to think, gee, maybe the tension from actually installing it the doorframe is so much that it would push the whole thing to where things meet and can be latched. Sure enough my thought was correct. It’s intentionally made with the gap, I figure because the tension would push it too far the other way so you’d never get it closed because the pieces would then be so far in that they’d overlap. It’s pretty sturdy I just don’t like how much give there is to the door itself because it moves and rattles when my 15 month old pulls on it. Other than that it’s a pretty decent gate and does the job nicely. Hopefully it will last the next couple years.

Built well, easy to install, but missing some functionality.
I purchased this brand due to my prior experience with Summer baby/pet gates. It was easy to install and has a wide gate opening, compared to other gates. It is also sturdy and well built, but it is missing some features from the previous gates I have purchased, and am still using. First, the latch is harder to open and close than the prior models. Also, the gate does not "lock" in the open position as the older models do. The gate just swings freely, which can get in the way at times. And finally, the gate "stop" on the older models are mounted with screws, allowing you reverse the "stop" to change the direction of the swing gate if desired. The "stop" for this gate is riveted and cannot be reversed. All the gates (3) I have from Summer have held up well over a few years of use. I would highly recommend their products.

Great gate!
Apparently other reviewers cannot read. The instructions and a large tag attached to the gate state that the gate will not line up to latch UNTIL IT IS INSTALLED WITH PROPER TENSION. The gate is not bent. Following the installation instructions was simple. The only thing I would advise is that you do not attach the wall cups until you make sure the gate will close properly. If your doorway is not plumb, you may have to adjust the placement, but you won’t know that until you adjust the tension. You can’t adjust the placement if you install the wall cups first. Also, this is not a self closing gate.

Very nice and stury metal gate
It was easy to install and I like it. The only thing I was disappointed about is that the thing to prevent swinging cannot be removed or switched around so the gate can open the other way. For one doorway that was fine but I couldn't get another for a second room as that would mean if I left it open it would block half the hallway or open into the room on the wrong side if turned around. So I found a different brand for another doorway that swings both ways. They are to prevent my puppy from going into the rooms while not blocking the air conditioning as would happen if I closed the doors.

Versatile baby/dog gate
We purchased these gates for a small puppy (4lbs at the moment). Her head can fit through the bars, but not her shoulders. We had a challenge finding a gate, as it needed to be pressure mounted on a glass staircase railing. This model works very well and holds very securely. Would it confine a full grown lab forcing pressure on it, I'm not so sure. I feel confident it will work for a 20lb dog. I have only noticed one negative aspect. It is quite loud while opening and closing, so if it was to be used near a sleeping baby, it definitely could waken that baby. Obviously not an issue being used for a dog.

Best gate I have found
I have two of these to keep my dogs from going up stairs and down a set of stairs. My six year old can open it and just go through part of it. Looks nice and easy to use. It is very loud though. You can cut some of the noise by going slow and lifting it very gently but it still makes noise when you open it so not Good for light sleeper for younger kids

Does the job requires
We are using it to help keep our escape artist yorkie from running out the front door foyer he has been left alone. The issue I have seen with this gate is when you get it set for the slide lock, the gate is harder to close. I have it adjusted where it is secure from being pulled open by the escapist, however easy one handed operation by us. The hinges are a little squeaky, however easily fixable with some Vaseline.

Very good - trickier for than some.
Great product for stairs with non-parallel posts and walls because they are very adjustable. Extension option makes them good for wide spaces. Fit can be a little tricky, recommend fitting the hinge side, putting on the gate, then working out where the other wall fittings need to be based on the gate position.
