A Very Good Drill but the 3/8 shank is too long

This could be a 5 star product, but I will give it 4 stars because the shank is too long. As noted by a previous reviewer, he bent the shank rendering it useless and the same thing happened to me. I noticed the local hardware store's drill products had very short shank for the 3/8 drill chuck. So I took my drill I received and cut off the shank 2 inches and left 1" on it and it fits my 3/8 drill chuck perfectly. It butts up to squarely to the big part of the drill, and you do not have to worry about bending the shank anymore. This is a hard to find tool, and it works very well with the shortened shank.

Just what I needed

Worked great, used it to make four 1/2" holes larger in 4" thick steel control arms and it handled it smooth as butter. Made sure to use cutting oil while doing so. Still looks great after project.

Good buy for the money

I bought this large drill bit because i needed one larger than my biggest 1/2" bit for one job. Drilling thru some thin steel ceiling material. It worked well.

Worked for me

I bought this to enlarge some 1/2" holes in 1/4" thick steel on my boat trailer. That was not really a big cut, but an important one for me. This bit cut out 8 holes in short order and still looks like new.

I used this to drill 8 holes in a steel/iron plate. Kept the bit oiled and it worked fine!

Did what i needed it to do, still sharp.

I used this drill bit to modify springs shackles on a lifted truck. It drilled a 9/16 hole in four thick steel brackets and four thick steel washers. Only problem I had was the drill bit was so sharp it just grabbed onto my parts. Could have used a drill press.
