Dogs & Kid Barrier!
Yikes! I have bought five (5) North State Superyards and two extensions now. I have 4 small dogs and an under 2 grandchild. I have fenced in the entryway, the dining room, the upper entry to the stairwell, the lower entry to the stairwell and fashioned a kennel area into the extra bay in the garage. It may sound extreme, but safety is almost as important to me as saving me from extra mopping from muddy furry little feet. (The dogs, not the grandchild). I'm very happy with the product, but the prices are climbing, and I wish that they sold the gate panel separately, the separate gate that they sell does not attach to this Superyard like the extension add-on does, which is a crummy deal. I elected to use 3m Command Broom Grippers to hold these fences to the walls instead of the given hardware so the dry wall would stay intact, after all, the dogs will grow old and die and the child will grow up.

I have a split level ranch, and on the main floor, the stairs going upstairs are enclosed on one side with a wall (same wall the shares with the stairs going downsairs) and the other side is open half way up. I needed to make sure my kids couldn't climb the stairs and fall off so I ordered the gate in the link above, added these to it to cover the distance in and it works great. I do wish that it was easier to add the extensions into the gate though. You need to remove one bar with a screw driver to get it loose and add in the other sections. However the construction of this gate is awesome and the bronze color is actually very dark in color and very class looking in person. The pictures don't truly show how it is, it is almost antique or rustic in color. In the end I would buy these again if needed and I am considering buying more if I purchase a playpen for the kids.

Great Product
The gate was to be used to extend a play area. Too pricey for my needs. The space to be extended was reduced, so I did not need the extension panel.

Stylish, Keeps Pooch Inside
Pros: I am so glad I invested in these gate extenders. They allowed my dog more space and security. Cons: It is way too pricy. I will not purchase any more of these because they are just too expensive for a two-foot by three-foot gate section. If I could have found a more reasonable seller, I would have purchased it elsewhere. However, I was willing to pay the price for the look, just this time around.

Absolutely LOVE this gate! If you are looking for a sturdy, safe, child proof gate... look no further!! We bought the North States gate with this attachment for length to go around our brick fireplace. Love it! Best thing I've bought all year!! It keeps my 15 month of son off the fireplace and from getting hurt. It is very sturdy, he pulls on it all the time, it is bolted to the wall on either side of the fireplace and is definitely not going anywhere. He throws all his toys over the gate and onto the fireplace area. We love it, would buy the North States gates again!

I ordered two of these 2-panel extensions to complete a toddler-proof barrier around our woodstove hearth. I had previously bought a 3-panel latching safety gate unit from the same manufacturer. I give the product 5 stars on its own merit (solid, well-made, attractive) but was very disappointed to find that the extension units were not easily connectable to the main gate unit. With some individual ingenuity and a couple of hours of labor, I was able to improvise useable connections but I wish the online description of the product would have made it clearer that these extensions aren't designed to connect to other units made by the same company (or maybe North States Industries could tweak their manufacturing process to make all units easily compatible?).

Excellent addition
The extension piece worked great in addition to the North States Superyard that we purchased to go around our wood stove. The extension fit in perfectly to the Superyard. It was incredibly simple to install the extension by myself. What I noticed most what that it surprisingly expanded the area inside the gate a lot more than I thought it would, which was nice. With the extension we are able to fit wood inside next to our stove as well, away from our toddler. However, as I stated in my other review as well, the color is definitely black and is in no way a "matte bronze" finish as stated in the product description.

Kid hates it, Parents love it
Call it detachment anxiety, but our little one hates this thing. Even with toys brimming inside, there's never enough incentive for him to play inside without throwing a fit, and we have two sets of these forming a larger dodecagonal structure. So while we thought this was going to solve our issues, we only ever use it for those extreme safety moments when we absolutely need to keep our child from running through the house unattended. Aside from these issues, the gate is well made, and way more than heavy enough to avoid a toddler lifting it.
