Plastic-free, stainless steel (sort of) alternative to VitaMix
I really wanted a high-speed blender but did NOT want the plastic blender jar that comes with the majority of them. (Food heats up in a high speed blender and it’s never a goood idea to heat food in plastic. Also, I’ve seen how the plastic jars get very scratched and clouded over time.) So, I was thrilled to find this blender. The price is comparable or better than the VitaMix and it blends just as well — my smoothies no longer have tiny bits of kale in them and nuts turn to nut butter very quickly! A few minor things you may want to be aware of: - I don’t love the blender lid. It’s a soft, almost greasy looking plastic that I’m guessing is PVC. It reeked of chemicals when I took it out of the box, so I had to let it offgas in the sun for a few days. (I used to have a Bosch stainless steel blender jar that had a rigid plastic lid, which worked great and didn’t stink. I wish the manufacturer would consider that here.) - This is a commercial product and wasn’t designed for good looks. The blender jar is sleek and industrial, but the base is fairly ugly sitting on the counter. - The instructions do not say whether the blender jar and lid are dishwasher safe. Based on a couple of product answers provided on this Amazon product page, I’ve been putting mine in the dishwasher, and so far it seems fine. [Editing 2 years later to add: The aluminum base of the blender jar has now become pitted from being put in the dishwasher regularly. (That’s common with aluminum.) It still works fine, but this may reduce its lifespan, and it looks bad. I’d now recommend hand washing.] Overall, I’m glad I purchased this and it works well. I hope manufacturers will continue to consider using non-toxic materials with food-contact kitchen appliances. This product is certainly a step in the right direction.

Waring v. Vitamix v. Blendtec
I did a TON of research on Vitamix, Blendtec, and Waring blenders. We wanted a high power blender to make smoothies, nut butters, and mixed drinks. This led me to the Waring and I have been extremely happy so far. Here are my thoughts: Waring - Powerful blender with simple(unlikely to fail) paddle controls. No need to use a tamping stick, this blender annihilates everything you put into it. The wide bottomed container makes it easy for all food to reach the blades, we blended hummus(thick) and it flowed like water up the sides and down the middle to the blades in a nice vortex action. Vitamix - Powerful blender with various control options, but you must use tamping stick for everything because the narrow bottomed jar does not allow contents to naturally fall down to the blade. Also, the Vitamix is overpriced due to it's overly-marketed name. Blendtec - Powerful blender with equivalent performance to the Waring, but the higher likelihood of failure on the electronic controls is a drawback. Price is higher than the waring. Overall thoughts: Waring is a commercial brand name that has survived in the restaurant industry since the 1950's. Because they are not overly-marketed, the price is kept low and they have developed a durable and quality product at a very good price point. Beware that any of these blenders is large(waring and vitamix are equal height). The 64 oz containers are tall and may not fit under your cabinets when on the base. Ours just barely slides back under the cabinet with the lid off (we put it behind the container when not in use). This is the best video out there that does an equal comparison of Vitamix, Waring, Blendtec, and JTC blenders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej048qZNxpk SPOILER ALERT: WARING WINS!!

The Jury is still debating on this one!!!
I have always wanted to have a powerful blender as I make a lot of smoothies and other types beverages, homemade soups etc. that requires a strong product that you may find used in Starbucks, Jug O Juice... I have only used it 6 times since I purchased it near the end of 2012. Each time I used it I had to hold the handle of the blender jar so it didn't attempt to twist itself on top of the motor. I noticed a smell coming from it but thought it was just because it was new and needed to be broken in per se. Yesterday, came back from the gym and wanted to make a smoothie for my guests and myself. The smell from the motor was horrible and it would not blend my frozen fruit...very disappointed. My hope is that waring will give great customer service and replace the product with one that does work since it is so new. I will keep you posted with any updates as to how Waring deals with this issue. UPDATE: Long story short. Seller NEVER contacted me when I posted the first review in 2013. I have been speaking with ACS again approximately 4 days ago because I recently had a dinner party and went to use the blender again and it did not work...died. Spoke with ACS again today, February 4, 2015 and they gave me the seller's phone number. I called GooD4U Products LLC...they gave me the Warranty number for waring. It allegedly appears that the seller GooD4U Products LLC are only interested in selling on Amazon, however, do not follow up with customers when they have an issue...they do not check the reviews on Amazon, and do not allegedly care about the Customer Service Ethics Standards that Amazon expects all sellers to adhere to, and agree to do, when they conduct business through the Amazon site.

Will have to replace the container with blades once a year making smoothies at home.
When working is an excellent blender. After nearly one year of only once a day use it sheared off the blade. Plan to buy one of these containers with blades every year, not a good bang for the buck. Planned obsolescence of one year. If the blades on this replacement, will not buy another Waring replacement.

Good for the price (1000$)
So far it’s been blending very well, however it’s getting more and more Noisyyy, I’ve only had it for 2 months and it’s already gotten pretty loud. Overall I would recommend it for someone who’s on budget-I bought it for 1k plus tax- and Vitamix was more than the double. However if you can comfortably afford a Vitamix, you should get it instead
