Strong, sturdy, but really seems better suited for round buckets. I am not finding any info anywhere about how to get into the square buckets. So it isnt like we have a choice, exactly. Basically this tool is what I see across the board. I went with an Augason brand tool because I have pretty much nothing but their brand of emergency food. I recently acquired some buckets, so I decided to buy the tool (btw, I now see that there are much cheaper tools out there, some in multi packs). The lids from the square buckets CAN be pried off using this, but I highly recommend the assistance of a flat head screw driver. When it comes down to it, a screw driver will do. Yet the addition of this bung wrench provides ergonomic support.. so yeh, overall I prefer having it versus not. That being said, the lid will likely be damaged. Maybe if you have finesse it can be reused. I didnt want to go to far into breaking into one of my kits. But I did work this tool around the lid a little to see how it would perform. I could see that it will work, and then is when I determined that the addition of the screw driver will provide added ease of taking the lid off (and visa versa, this bung will help if you had only planned on a screw driver). Maybe I am just going at it wrong. At least I know I can and will get into my buckets when the time comes. Would like to see them produce a video showing them getting into a square bucket with this thing. Or come out with a better tool for it.

Needed for an Augason food bucket
You need one of these wrenches to get an Augason food bucket open. But it does not work as well as the older metal wrenches worked. The older metal wrenches don't seem to be sold on Amazon any more.

It's a miracle! Finally I can open 5-gallon buckets relatively easily!
What good is food storage in a 5-gallon bucket that you can't open, or that takes so much effort to open that you shy away from using it, not to mention the damage to hands, fingers, and nails in trying to wrest the lid off? This is the answer and it was like a miracle when I tried it the first time! Within a couple of minutes I figured out how to use the bung wrench, and yes, it works for the bung closures of 55-gallon drums, too, but that's not why I bought it. It neatly hangs on a hook in my storage room, with its built in hanging hole, for quick access to the food buckets when needed. I'm so glad I bought it and just wish I'd found one about 20 years ago! Of course it is heavy-duty, yet light weight. Awesome tool.

Good idea but could be better
Well I purchased this as I misplaced my other bucket lid opener that had no issue opening the cheap snap on lids from wally world ....however this one does not as it cannot get under the edge with its up turned claws It is however very nice to have the bung wrench built in and that works fine if the claw was straight it would work much better So in my case I ended up with a strange shaped bung wrench but it is cheap enough to keep around anyway

Sturdy, but not usable for me at this time
The item arrived on time and with no damage to it or the package. I have rectangular rounded cornered buckets and I found that instead of being a more or less "universal" bucket wrench, it will not fit (and therefor will not work with) my buckets. I plan of keeping the wrench though as I do occasionally get round 5 gallon buckets that it should work with.

Get what you pay for
It’s a plastic type opener. Doesn’t seem as sturdy , sadly due to Covid we missed the return date. Item will be left as a back up at the restaurant I work at, hoping it will stand up to the demand!
