Voor betrouwbare sterkte wordt deze trekhaakkogel geleverd met een verzinkte zeskantmoer en borgring. Het heeft ook fijne schroefdraad voor een betere grip op de trekhaak (250 lb.-ft. koppel vereist). ROESTVRIJ. Voor uitzonderlijke weerstand tegen regen, modder, strooizout en andere corrosieve bedreigingen, is deze koppelingskogel gemaakt van roestvrij staal, wat een uitstekende sterkte biedt terwijl het langdurige roestpreventie behoudt. NAUWKEURIGE PASVORM. Deze trekhaakkogel heeft een diameter van 2 inch en past op vrijwel elke koppeling van 2 inch. De kogelschacht heeft een diameter van 1 inch en is 2-1/8 inch lang voor een veilige bevestiging aan een trekhaakkogelbevestiging. BETROUWBARE KRACHT. High quality ball

Had a nice smooth finish unlike some other matte or milled ones I’ve seen. Not mirror polished, but smooth. My only beef is that the nut and washer were plated instead of SS. Kept it because it’s usually the ball that rusts anyway.

Nice hitch.... with cheap zinc-plated hardware??

The ball itself is nice and appears to be actual stainless. But then they include a cheap zinc-plated washer and nut... wtf? The washer and nut are going to rust and defeat the whole purpose of getting the stainless ball.

Ditch that rusty hitch!

I installed this ball on an old stainless mount I had laying around from a previous vehicle. This ball is very high quality with a high load rating. I've used it for a few months now and it's still in fantastic shape and absolutely zero rust on it. Rusty balls are the worst. Pick one of these up and enjoy.

a little pricey on Amazon.

About $10 higher on Amazon than the online trailer store, but faster delivery with Prime. Great hitch ball, and won't rust, but the washer and nut aren't stainless, so they do eventually rust. I sprayed the washer and nut with some clear enamel after installing the hitch ball. That should slow down the corrosion. I don't know why the washer and nut aren't made of stainless; cost cutting I suppose. I know of no practical reason a stainless steel nut can't go on a stainless steel bolt.

No rust so far.

I use it a lot and it may be discolored there's no rust. I'm using it with aluminum receiver and company says the two metals will not conflict.

Great ball which stands up to corrosion better than most others!

Have had this on my Curt ball mount for several years now, and it's still in great shape. Although I don't do much towing, I bought it back when I lived on the coast since I've seen what the salt air/water/sand does to a standard ball in short order. Although not stainless steel, the nut and lock washer still look great. I have no issue with the Zinc coated nut/lockwasher due to the mentioned galling issues, and besides, that's not the part of the ball that needs to be stainless. The fact is that no coating will last on a ball under towing conditions, so if you want it to stay decent looking then the ball needs to be a solid, rust resistant material, which this one is.

Cheap quality nut.

Ball and shank appears to be of good quality, but the nut appears to be of cheaper quality, or at least non stainless. You can see the metal differences in the ball and shank vs. the nut & washer. Issue? No, not really. It might freeze up years down the raod, but I don't take mine off anyway. Next time, I'd probably want to feel one in my hands before buying. It'd be nice when they describe as "stainless" that all the parts are actually "stainless". I'd buy this again, if the price were a little cheaper.

I am disappointed in Curt Mfg

I ordered two of the 40053 Stainless Trailer Balls in the same Amazon order. One of them was all stainless, in a matte finish, with stainless nut and lock washer. That one I rate 5 stars. The second one ended up polished, and had a non-stainless washer and nut. I sent it back and the replacement was exactly the same. 1 Star for that inferior product. I am disappointed in Curt Mfg. Obviously they have changed the alloy, the polish, and the washer/nut combination. The collective changes decrease the quality of the item and I see many others share my concerns. Both types of ball were model 40053. *update* I contacted Curt Mfg. about my concerns and they have chosen not to respond. It has been 5 weeks with no response. There are many other companies to deal with out there, and it is unfortunate that a formerly excellent company has cut quality for the bottom line. I see the ball has Made in China on the tag.
