Ze moeten lichtecht zijn. Van de 250+ kleuren hebben ze allemaal een ASTM-lichtechtheidsclassificatie van Uitstekend (100+ jaar) of Zeer Goed (100 jaar), met uitzondering van 2 zeer door kunstenaars gevraagde kleuren. 3. Ze moeten betrouwbaar zijn. Kunstenaars hebben kleuren nodig die consistent zijn van tube tot tube waarop ze kunnen vertrouwen bij het schilderen. We ontwikkelden onze aquarellen in de vroege jaren 1990 en debuteerden in 1993 met 18 kleuren met als doel om in de loop der jaren meer paletstandaarden en unieke kleuren toe te voegen. Nu met meer dan 250 kleuren, het breedste kleurengamma ter wereld, heeft DANIEL SMITH veel unieke kleuren en is hard op weg om de topfabrikant van aquarellen ter wereld te worden. Onze aquarellen worden nog steeds in kleine batches vervaardigd, ze zijn handgemaakt en met de hand verpakt voor een consistente kwaliteitscontrole. GREEN APATITE ECHT: Creëert een prachtig scala aan greens - fris geelgroen tot diep olijfgroen - met een enkele tube. Deze granulerende kleur is een donkere, bijna bruine, olijfgroene massatint. In wasbeurten zakt het bruin weg van een levendig natuurlijk groen, waardoor een gedenkwaardige textuur en contrast ontstaat. ONDERZEESE GROEN: Dit opwindende, granulerende groen combineert Frans ultramarijn met Quinacridone Gold. Het anorganische, sedimentaire Franse ultramarijn bezinkt en granuleert terwijl het organische, transparante Quinacridone Gold in een gouden halo drijft. Geconcentreerd doet dit je denken aan warme zeekelp. LUNAR BLUE: De stof van de nachtelijke hemel glijdt van de borstel in deze hemelse tint. Granulerend maanzwart zweeft boven een phthalo-ondertoon, perfect voor het vastleggen van een maanverlichte hemel. Inktzwart als middernacht of diffuus als de maan op water. CASCADE GREEN: Van vochtige groenblijvende bossen en alpenweiden tot de drogere, zonniger open bossen, onze Cascade Green toont een miljoen tinten groen die in die omgevingen voorkomen en wordt een veelzijdige aanvulling op onze door kunstenaars geprefereerde greens. Terwijl je het aanbrengt, voegt een subtiele variatie van donker naar licht de illusie van diepte toe!. QUINACRIDONE MAGENTA: Dit dieprode violet schildert soepel van diep donker naar heldere, gloeiende rozenwassingen, een must voor bloemenschilderen! IMPERIAL PAARS: Dit zeer verzadigde paars is rijk aan textuur en zal granuleren om tinten van pruim en ultramarijn te onthullen. MOONGLOW: Water maakt deze verbazingwekkende mix van drie pigmenten vrij om wonderen te verrichten. Kijk en wacht terwijl Anthraquinoid Red drijft, Ultramarijnblauw bezinkt en Viridian de resulterende violette kleur vergrijst. Beautiful colors

Unique colors that make great florals or landscapes

Ten colors from Daniel Smith that make great florals or landscapes (or abstracts, you decide.) The colors include several that are unique to Daniel Smith such as "Moonglow" a darkened bluish violet, and Lunar Blue, a granulating dark blue that tends to green; the paint has (if I recall) magnetic particles that cause the paint to granulate or form clumps that give an attractive textured effect. Aussie Red Gold is another that is exclusive to Daniel Smith; it's a quinacridone red plus two other pigments (PY83-Diarylide Yellow 83, PR101 Mars Orange) Normally I don't like to use mixed pigment paints but this color is really beautiful, an almost gold orange. Rounding out the unique colors, Cascade Green, which is burnt umber and Phthalo blue, Undersea Green, another triple pigment ultramarine, nickel azo yellow and quinacridone gold. And finally Green Apatite Genuine, a Primatek color from ground minerals. It's a granulating olive green from rocks. The other colors are found in other color lines, like Nickel Azo Yellow, a replacement for Aureolin or Cadmium Lemon, almost ochre in masstone but washes out to a beauutiful lemony yellow, Imperial Purple which is ultramarine and quin violet, convenience mix, and quinacridone magenta and "Opera" a bright bubble gum pink. The colors are somewhat unique though a lot of them are mixes and have three pigments (which is not idea, because if you mix in more colors, you can get a dull effect when the absorbance spectra do not match up well) You can make some interesting mixtures nevertheless, and the greens are good--most tube greens are pretty awful and not able to be used unmixed in landscapes as they are unnatural looking. The only color I don't like in here is Imperial Purple. It's a pretty pure grape color but it shows chromatographic separation on hot press paper (you can see the ultramarine and the quinacridone separating.) Carbazole Violet is almost identical and a single pigment. If you threw in a cerulean blue type paint, you could go anywhere with this set and do landscapes. Add a yellow and a pure red and you have a floral palette. I swatched these out on hot press paper (smooth surface.) I normally use cold press (toothed surface) but I wanted to see them at their worst. Hot press is more challenging. There is a lot of granulation and if you enjoy that texture, you'll love this set.

Great color it's worth the price

i love the variety of colors. They are bright, beautiful and well worth the money...though as a beginner the price may intimidate. It's worth itt! ou will finish feeling better with great results.

Depressing colors

I was so looking forward to be painting with this paint. But as soon as I started I’ve realized the colors are not bright. Maybe some artists love this type of depressed look. But I could not finish my painting.

These were for a gift

Got these for Xmas for my daughter who loves to paint with watercolor. It’s a hobby for her, and she loved these colors. I am not sure how good they are, but it appeared to be one of the main brands of colors and a higher quality than others. If you’re not sure about the size of the tubes, they are small, it is a small box. But you don’t use very much, as the color does get “watered down” as you paint, so you won’t need as much as your think. Also this way they won’t have time to dry and get old, as you’re going to use it before it could. On the expensive side, but if you want a better brand you will need to pay. They arrived well packaged and quickly. I believe my daughter likes these very much, hence the 5 stars.

The paints are terrific except for the iridescent copper which is rock hard. It will not come out of the tube and the tube is rock hard!

I love this set. So moody and the granulation is lovely. The chart was done on Hot Press and the swatches were done on Cold Press. Left swatches are the Jean Haines set. Right side is the Colours of Inspiration 12 1/2pan set, they overlap 3 colours (moonglow, cascade green, green apatite gen.).
