Hard as a rock
I guess when they said firm they meant it. I’m a side sleeper and it hurts my arthritic shoulders and hips, I’m hoping the memory foam topper helps, because as others have said, you cannot get it back in box to return it once it’s inflated. I gave it four stars because it wasn’t their fault. But one star off as a caution: I am not sure what other firms feel like. This feels super firm to me. Some reviewers said it was too soft. I doubt that anyone would think the mattress I received is too soft. I wonder if there are quality control issues.

Fantastic bed that comes in a handy little box and quickly expands to twin
My friend was coming to NYC to take care of an ill relative,, and needed a bed for several weeks. I already own one of these excellent mattresses in San Francisco, so I had one shipped to her. She was very happy to have a comfortable mattress waiting for her on the floor. Another caregiver was happy to take the bed when my friend left town. This is an excellent deal. So comfortable. You might want to buy one and leave it in the box until needed. One you take it out of the box, it expands and won't go back in. In the box, the mattress will easily fit in a corner of your basement or a closet. I paid $10 extra to have it delivered inside the building rather than left on the front stairs. Highly recommended by a friend and I’m glad I took her advice.

Good for trailer bunks
They didn’t expand to the full 5 inches and certain spots are more squished still however they work good for our happijac bunks in the trailer. They’re slightly firm but better than anything else we could find. Id still recommend them.

Exactly what I needed
They are bigger than expected. They work perfectly for my kids rooms. I got 4. All expanded evenly. The kids have all expressed how comfortable they are. I am satisfied with purchase. They have been sleeping better and longer uninterrupted also. Would buy again in the future.

Mostly good mattress
We purchased this for a top bunk of a bunk bed as the 6 inch mattress was too high. The height of this mattress is perfect and just what we needed. This mattress is unfortunately a bit more narrow than a typical twin mattress, so there is a few inches of gap on the sides of the top bunk now. It is still usable and comfortable for small children.

Used for Sprinter Van DIY bed
We read reviews and decided to go for this one to use as our DIY sprinter van bed. As you can see from the photos, the mattress measured just under 5” for height (and about 1/2” under 60”x80”). We laid our flat line vans bed over the top of the mattress to get an idea of where we wanted to cut and then made measurements. We took off the zippered cover and then cut into the cheesecloth material to access the foam. After cutting we put the cheesecloth (which is flexible) and zipper cover back on. We’ll make custom covers later but it fits great in the van for now with just tucking in extra material. Would 100% recommend over buying the $900 pre made bed options. We will eventually spend another $100-200 to have custom covers made and have the bed split into two pieces so we can be more flexible with configurations. Very comfy and the perfect amount of firmness with still being comfortable to sleep on.

I wouldn’t suggest for adults
I purchased this for my 1 year old son’s floor bed. We’re still transitioning to him sleeping in room but sometimes i have to lay with him until he falls asleep. It’s not every comfortable for me laying there after a while. But for a small child it seems fine. i would prefer a thicker memory foam, I weigh 130 for reference

Great for my bad back
Like many of my fellow bipedal hominids of a certain age, I've developed a degenerated lumbar disc and, being a side sleeper, have found I need a very firm mattress to keep my spine from bending and pinching through the night. I'm taking the time to write this up in hopes it's of use to others with bad backs struggling to find a good night sleep and eliminate the source of their pain. My lower back pain was getting progressively worse for several years until I realized the problem might be the "firm" $2K mattress I was sleeping on. I went camping for a week, sleeping on just a 2" memory foam topper on the ground; pain started to subside immediately. I've since tried out a couple other "firm" mattresses in the $2-3K range and have come to the opinion that there's no such thing as a mattress that is both thick and also firm. The more material you add, the more sag you're going to get. Period. Companies would obviously rather sell you a thicker, more expensive mattress, but if you want a truly firm mattress it must be thin. This LUCID mattress is unusually firm; firmer than I had expected and firmer than I had even hoped for. It's definitely not as plush as thicker options. But it is GREAT for my back, and starting the day pain-free is the most important thing. It was a little too firm for my partner, so we added a 1" latex topper which is nearly as supportive and quite a bit more comfortable. I would recommend this combo. The only setup I've found that is better for my back is the aforementioned firm 2" memory foam mattress topper right on the floor. That's the setup I use for car camping and I never sleep better than on one of those. It's perfect in terms of both support and comfort, at least for me @ 5'8", 150lb. The downside is I've found those toppers only last a couple years of daily use before softening to the point your hips start to feel the ground beneath. If you try the topper-only strategy, make sure it's high-density as they're not all the same. I got mine at Costco. The reason I gave this item 4 stars instead of 5 is that they obnoxiously list it as 60x80" (true queen) but both the box and tag list its true size, which is 59"x79". So the description is misleading (perhaps even deliberately so, as getting those numbers right would have been a trivial task). I'd rather pay 3% more for a mattress that fits both my bed frame and my sheets. 1" matters when you're sharing a queen. I ended up returning the mattress for this reason alone despite it otherwise being a keeper.

Noisy
Every time I move, it sounds like I’m farting. (Substitute “passing gas” if “farting” is not allowed.) Once I’m asleep though, the noise doesn’t seem to bother me. Except, once in awhile, a noise will wake me. I just have to lift the covers to determine if it was me or the mattress. Other than that, the mattress seems to be fine. It doesn’t seem to retain any odours (thankfully) and is, as advertised, quite firm. If you are looking for a firm mattress, and don’t mind feeling like you’re in a farting contest, I recommend this mattress. I wouldn’t recommend it if you sleep with a partner whom you get very close to. I imagine the noises emanating from the mattress during love making would be very distracting. Her: “Was that you?” Me: “No, was it you?” Her:” No!” Me: “Let’s go to the living room couch.” All joking aside, I have only been sleeping on it for a couple of weeks. Not enough time to give it a honest rating. And maybe the noises will lessen as the mattress gets broken in.

Great product
I bought this for my daughter to replace her futon mattress as she was waking up broken everyday on that thing. Literally one night sleep on this and all her back and neck pain were gone. I picked this one because I have a lucid memory foam mattress and it is heavenly. Out of town relatives that have slept on my bed have gone home and bought the same mattress they loved it so much. I knew I could trust this to be a great but affordable solution and it is just that. The five inches is a little thin appearance wise on the futon but the comfort is still there.

Great for my queen sofabed
I waited for ages for IKEA to have their foam mattress in stock so I could complete my Harlanda sofabed. Finally, I gave up and looked for a substitute (which wasn't easy). This mattress fits perfectly, puffed up quickly, and had no smell at all. It's comfy too.
