Very very sturdy but rusts quickly.
I Really needed a secure mailbox. I don’t think the powder coating on these products is so fantastic.

Strong support
Either this brand or others as long as it fits this will not disappoint. You can mount to a concrete slab or dig and place It in the ground, on the porch wherever you want this base will do it and hold. Highly recommend

Check dimensions!
Be Aware: this particular size post holder is not big enough for standard “4x4” mailbox post. I did not ck dimensions closely before purchasing. My son in law had to shave the post down AND groove it on 3 sides because the holes in the post holder (for screws) are punched inward which does not allow post to slip in. This is probably for deck mount size posts. Live and Learn lesson.

Stout base for a stable and level mailbox
Good construction provides a secure base. Be sure you are purchasing the correct post. There are posts for just mounting in concrete without this base and those posts may make your mailbox too tall if used with this base. Check the description before ordering. Using a base provides the advantage of replacing a damaged post in the future.

They work for nominal 4x4s but...
You'll have to do some milling. These bases are designed to receive metal posts made by the same manufacturer, not standard 4x4 posts. So, that means the inside measurement is 3 3/8, not 3 1/2, let alone the 3 9/16 that's usually the real measurement of 4x4s. The customer didn't want me to tear up their deck in order to fasten the posts to the joists. I didn't want to either, as the deck screws (quote-unquote rust-proof) tend to rust and break unless they're stainless steel—making the removal of old decking dicey. These bases fit the bill and while they're not as rock solid as timberlocks fastened to a joist, they're still just about rock solid and I fastened them straight down with two timberlocks aligned with the joists. Photos attached so you can see what I had to do to prep the 4x4s. Used a joiner to slim the ends, then a router because the holes that receive the screws stick in about 3/16.

4x4 wooden post needs to be trimmed but will support heavy, hard-wood arch ♡
I made this arch as a surprise for my friends' wife on their wedding day and these were almost perfect. I was worried the surrounding bases wouldn't be wide enough to support the heavy-ass arch but they were *almost* perfect & he specifically did NOT want angled cross supports at the top. A 4x4 post does NOT fit without some chiseling on all sides and also accommodating those weird nubby things on the inside which are only on three sides but once they fit I used wood screws to secure the posts. No one was walking under the arch so I can't say how stable it is if it were hit accidentally but this was made with 2 4x4 posts, 6' tall, the front beam is 2×8, 6' long and a 1×4 on the very top. All done with fir with prominent vertical grain from a local lumber yard and stained with Varathane shade Kona.

virtually perfect condition
I was a little worried about a used part but it was a huge discount and turned out to be a great idea, I will do this again
