Best available, better than the old Filson Cruis9er
Received my Primos Gun hunter vest today. I am very pleased at the functionality, quality, and thought put into this vest. I have tried to replace the Filson orange cruiser my father bought me in high-school back in the '70s that I outgrew when I was in college. Filson has not made this vest for years. This vest is actually superior to the old filson vest. The material looks like it will actually resist, to a certain extent, barbwire fence crossings. My last vest, a game hide, is in shreds after last year's hunt from a couple fence crossings. The material is somewhat soft, a dacron, that will not make much noise. This vest is made for hunters by the hunters at Primos. It is packed with features. It's got multiple pockets in the front for things like Flash light, GPS, knife, rifle cartridges, and magazines. It has two large pockets that can carry gloves and binoculars. It has a large rear pocket you can put other items such as a lunch and first aid kit and game bags. There are straps in the back that you can tie off a large coat. There are two large or deep pockets to put water bottles on each side in the back. There are handwarmer pockets on each side. There is a pull down patch of material in the inside back that's waterproof that you can sit on to keep your butt from getting wet. I will attach closed cell foam over this flap in the back to sit on for padding. That is really the only improvement I can offer. After hunting for fifty pluss years and having many vests this is by far the best at a great price ever offered.

Good Vest. It'll Carry What's Needed for an All Day Hunt
First, the vest IS true to size. Because the other reviews said it tended to be VERY large I called Primos. They said it is designed to fit over large, bulky coats but I should order the size I ordinarily wear. I should have listened to them. I don't usually wear bulky coats while hunting and so, swayed by the reviews, I bought a medium. (5'10", 180 lbs. I usually wear a large.) Medium could have worked but fit a little smaller than I like. Exchanged w/ Amazon for a large. Fits great. While we're talking about size, lay it flat and the top of the shoulder to the bottom measures 25". Side seam to side seam, across the top of the two large front pockets measures 27". The large pockets measure 8" x 8" with a 2" bottom bellows. The two top pockets measure 7" x 4" with a 1 3/4" bottom bellow. The right pocket is partitioned into two smaller pockets. The pullout seat flap measures 16 1/2" wide and 15" long. I could easily use this for an all day hunt and carry everything I need. It comes with recommendations on how to load/pack it. Those are good except I found the recommended location for a two-way radio awkward and uncomfortable. Regardless, there are enough pockets to put everything most people would need to go out all day. The downside: Water bottle pockets are deep and narrow, too narrow for the 32oz Nalgene bottles I prefer. (Found the Klean Kantene 20oz and 27oz bottles fit fine.) It would be good to have a zip front closure instead of buttons. The pocket zippers on the first vest I received did separate in the middle when zipped closed, but opening and then closing the zipper seemed to fix that. Have not had that problem with vest I have now. The finishing stitching for the button holes could be beefier. As other reviewers have mentioned when you fill the back compartment it's not comfortable lean back against a tree, fence, etc. That's kind of a no-brainer. I may cut off the seat flap as I'm a little ambivalent about it. Overall, great vest. Not perfect, but better than just good enough. Recommended if you're looking for something like this.

Great design. Holds all sorts of hunting stuff! Large fit over my hunting jacket just fine.
Lots of pockets, durable fabric, will last me for a long time. Buy once and be happy!

My first impression of this vest upon receipt was how well it is made. I have found most all of Primos products to be quality made products, and the Gunhunter's vest is no exception. I bought this vest, because I had purchased the bowhunters vest and I really loved it. Some of the pro's and con's with this vest: Pro's: 1. Well made - built to last 2. Ample pocket space. It is easier than carrying a backpack and simpler once I am in the stand to get my calls, etc out. 3. I really like the inside large pockets for carrying tobaggan, gloves, scarf, etc. Con's: 1. I really wish this came in Camo Orange. I fixed it myself, with some Sharpie markers! I camo'ed it myself! In TN, Camo Orange is legal. 2. I do not like the buttons. I prefer the zippers as is on the Bowhunter's vest. 3. One problem, I have so much stuff in the pockets, I am pretty bulked up. Once I get to the stand and get stuff out of the pockets (hat, gloves, etc.), I am fine. But, if you shoot a deer, you will want to have another orange vest with you to wear instead of this one while tracking and dragging out a deer. First, so you don't have this heavy, bulky vest with all your gear in it while you are tracking/dragging. Secondly, this vest is not machine washable, so you don't want to get it all sweaty and bloodstained. Overall, I am pleased with it. It does make a nice alternative to an extra backpack. Keeps your stuff ready to go and organized. If you replaced buttons with zippers and added camo pattern to the orange, I'd give it 5 stars. Oh, and the thermometer that is attached to the zipper did not work on mine. No big deal, I didn't expect it to be much.

Amazing vest. Exactly what I was looking for.
I really like this vest. I had a very hard time finding one either online or through Amazon that wasn’t a typical big flappy pocket or low quality material. I was interested in a couple but this one was the only one that could ship before hunting season. The main things I was looking for was a mesh interior for breathability and good pockets and storage with good fasteners. This one delivered. A couple of the pockets have Velcro but there are a couple with zippers and a couple with buttons. This vest has a fold out but flap to sit on to keep it dry. It has a pocket for a radio and gps. It has a red led blinker for SOS or location at night. It has a compass and thermometer, which are probably cheap but a nice little addition none the less. There are additional pockets on the back, a couple with open tops for maybe a water bottle or something. The fabric and material seem durable. I sprayed mine with water repellant spray. The picture from the seller does not do this vest justice.

Everything you need to take on your next hunt. Lots of pockets for first aid, compass, GPS, ammo etc. Seems very well made, arrived on time and in perfect condition. I ordered 2XL to fit over my heavier cost or late season coveralls

The vest is a great quality .The Orange is super bright.
Great vest order the XL and the size was perfect.Alot of pockets and are deep and zipper up.You will not lose you phone ! Keys ! Maps! Etc. I recommend this vest for sure.If you are looking for a really good vest this is the one.
