Challenging but excellent kit for 10 year old, with superb customer service from manufacturer
We bought 3 of these for Christmas presents. Older grandson (13) enjoyed building and programming it with no problems. It was a great project for the 10 year old with almost no help from Grandpa. I would have given the product a 5 star, but in two of the kits, the axle broke at the wheel. However, I contacted the manufacturer and they quickly sent me out new axles and wheels. Great customer service! I actually returned the 3rd set because the only reason I bought it was to get another axle for the broken one and at first, I didn't know how to request parts. After I found out how to request a part, there was no reason for me to keep the 3rd set once the manufacturer quickly supplied me with extra axles and wheels. Why can't all manufacturers be as good and responsive as this one?

Bought for 14 year old son as a fun afternoon project
It's a cute little project. Easy for my 14 year old to put together. He enjoys changing the functions to make it do other things.

If plastic quality can be improved, this would be a huge hit
Can we please get replacement wheels? My kid loved the gift and spent 6 hours building the drawing-bot and was very excited to see it draw designs on the paper. But after the painstaking assembly, on the very first try, the wheels come off. The plastic axles on the wheels are cracked. She’s now very disappointed. This is a brilliant concept and design for teaching Mechanical Coding and if the plastic quality can be improved, this would be a huge hit.

Plastic pieces break easily
My 9-year-old LOVED building this robot. Unfortunately, the plastic pieces used to “code” the robot break easily. They have pins that hold them in place, which break off and get stuck in the wheel (see photo). It only worked for a few minutes before breaking. It is now useless. We are huge Snap Circuit fans, so we expected a high-quality Elenco product. We were disappointed. I’m glad it was an intricate build that took some time - I’m giving one extra star for that. We would not recommend this product.

Big hit for Camp Grandma!
This kit was a huge hit with my very capable 14 year old grandson. I bought it as the activity for us to do together for Camp Grandma. He absolutely loves it….he (the robot) has made us both laugh! He has such a character about him! Fairly easy to assemble, but not for a 10 year old as it says 10+ on box. Instructions are well written and thorough. We are very pleased and are enjoying this. Wonderful value!

Fun and educational robot
This is a very unique STEM product that teaches coding in a creative way without the use of computers or typical coding languages. The robot is coded by attaching small blocks to the center wheel. Those blocks hit various levers as it rotates that trigger breaks, backwards movement, or functions such as throwing a ball. While this is educational, it is limited in it's coding education. The programming is very procedural. Each time the wheel goes around the code will be exactly the same. There are no sensors or if/then logic that are common in other robot kits. The educational benefits of this are more focused on understanding the engineering of how it all works. It's important to note that this needs to be assembled from 200+ pieces. The robot is appropriate for a 10 year old to build, but I'd strongly recommend adult help when building it. Putting it together took us a couple hours. Overall, we've really enjoyed the robot and had fun with the different modules that are included in the box. Definitely recommend as an activity for kids that doesn't involve screentime.

Cuter than Wall-E!
It's a wonderful scientific robot for 10+ boys who love building and coding. They need to have patience and curiosity about building a scientific project and see the result. Instructions are clear but a child will require adult supervision. The parts are clearly numbered but we found that we had to make sure all the burrs had to be completely removed and sometimes filed down after the pieces had been cut from the frame they came on. The first time we built the robot the cog mechanism was cluncky and the cute robot did not operate correctly. But reassembling and making sure the burs were filed , the cogs worked smoothly. It became a family project. We liked the fact the mechanical stem coding robot used coding buttons rather than digital techology. Designed to inspire users to learn about mechanical engineering and coding basics This made it more accessable for our son (10) and he could "programme" the robot to do his own tasks. Really well designed educational product. We found one of the wheel axels was cracked and the wheel came off after a few .seconds. This may have happened in manufacturing or when we cut the wheel from its frame. Well worth the money.
