Perfect pump for my pandemic pool
Ok - bear with me bc this gets a little long. Short story is this pump is awesome. Buy it now. Long story is this - Being isolated during the early months of the Covid pandemic, we decided to get an above ground intex pool. The first year, we attached a hose and let the pool drain naturally. That took about 36 hours, and we were left with several inches of water in the bottom. I used a wet dry vac to empty the rest. I must have emptied that thing 40 times, trying to get the remaining water out. It actually made me consider tossing that pool out! So I started looking for options and saw this pump. Reviews seemed solid and I bought it early in anticipation of the next season. One thing to note - you’ll need to buy a connector if you want to attach a standard garden hose. It’s about $10. So - earlier this year I had to empty the pool for a couple of weeks, and I used this pump. It was impressive. After a couple hours, the pool was nearly empty. The pump seemed like it was running dry so i stopped it and pulled out that wet dry vac again. Even though there was still an inch of water in the pool it was a whole lot better than what I’d done the first year. We filled it back up and enjoyed it for the rest of the summer. Today, I emptied the pool for the season. I accidentally forgot about the pump. After about three hours, I went out and to my surprise, the pool was completely empty!!! It was bone dry! I didn’t even know it could do that! I’m so thrilled that I sat right down to write this review :) So like I said at the beginning, awesome pump AND it empties the pool 100%! As long as I have this pool, I’ll have this pump to go with it.

Wonderful pump!
I bought the cheapest version on here and it has cured my waterlogged backyard. I seriously recommend when you buy this product to get a real 1 1/2 or 1 1/4 discharge hose made for a sump pump and AVOID using a WATER HOSE ADAPTER with a WATER HOSE. The larger the hose the performance will surely show.

We've went through 5 pumps a year of another type for our pond. This pump has been the best buy in years. It's still going strong since last year. Will be buying more.

Worth trying vs the ever-failing Zoeller
Anyone in the sump pump business will tell you to get a Zoeller. I have three. I understand that cast iron will help keep the pump cool, but the rust is a bit much for me. What I really don't like on my Zoellers is the arm switch assembly and the switch inside the switch housing. These parts wear out, sometimes as quick as within one rainy season. Which also means the pump may fail to turn on when it has to. What's next, oh you know. Sure, you can test your pump once a year. If it works it doesn't mean it will continue working through the wet season. Or, you can bring it up and inspect it, and if needed, replace switch arm, switch, seal, about $60 for the parts. That'll keep it going until next year. Or, you get tired of the corrosion, leaking seals, burnt out switch. For half the cost of a 1/3 hp Zoeller M53 you get this plastic beauty which is rated 1/2 hp. The pit needs to be large enough to accommodate the tethered float switch. Is it going to burn out because its housing is plastic? Well, if the switch fails and the pump runs continuously, perhaps it will. Otherwise I say forget about it. I give it 4 stars for the low price compared to the competition, and working as it should be after installation. Only time will tell if it has the reliability and durability you want from your sump pump. Update Dec 2020 I just bought another one. To replace another Zoeller that had failed because water got into the switch housing. The first one I bought a year ago has performed flawlessly so far.

Update May 17 2021: After 9 years of intermittent use I am having some difficulties. Called the customer support number and received excellent help. The 2 Harbor Freight pumps I used previous to this did not last 1/2 this long. Water has gotten into the unit and it turns but not freely. Customer service provided info on how to change its oil. It may or may not work but it owes nothing. Kudos Superior Pump! --------------------------------------------------------- It doesn't like anything in the water to speak of, and the float is...unresponsive. I hook/hang the float in a vertical position when I want to pump water with it. I got it for moving water when doing pond maintenance (not muck pumping either) and if I had a friend that had one to tell me what they're like I would not have bought this one. I am not buying another one. I rate it as 'okay' because it does run and water does flow. I don't think I'd count on it in a critical situation (such as a sump) (update 3-30-2014) It is still working; if the water is close to freezing the float cable tends to be stiff and stays that way, it doesn't bend. I installed it in a 1000 gallon 'water seasoning' tub that is about 4.5' deep when full; in my backyard... and use it to fill/top ponds and tubs as needed. I had to dig through my tote tub of fittings and came up with one for adapting to garden hose. It 'hangs' on the top lip of the tub until needed, then I drop it to the bottom of the tub, plug it in, and the float has a catch cord I added that I can clip to the top lip to keep it 'up'. I also know almost to the minute how long it takes to pump the tank to certain points and will set a timer to remind me to go check it before it hits 'bottom' so I don't run the pump dry. It has lasted far longer than I expected. It pushes water fairly well, I have only asked it to deal with 4-5' of head and it does well with that. I only use it with the 'clean' water, it does not like ANYTHING in it's water; it is no where near a dirty water pump. I've cleaned out the bottom intake and impeller stuff twice, not as much wear as I expected.

Good little pump
This is a great little sump pump. I bought it to deal with our greenhouse that floods during our rainy season. It’s pumped it out at a higher rate, is fairly quiet, and the float switch works just fine. I bought this based on reviews, specs and price and would definitely recommend it to others.

LOUDER THAN OUR LAST PUMP OF EQUAL SIZE
It works well but we just find it quite a bit louder than our last pump. The last pump was case iron so I don't know if that makes the difference. It's a great value as the local stores and even the big box stores couldn't match the Amazon price and it was delivered to our door!
