Not the 1 stop shop I'd hoped
Purchased this hoping it would be a good link for engine instruments and fault finding. The basics, it does very well. However if you were going to use this for engine diagnostics, you will be disappointed. Yes it can give a fault code(as per photo) but it is not a specific. Trying to search for tge code was unsuccessful. Plugged in a specific diagnostic tool, which instantly told me it was a crank position sensor at fault. Shame had such high hopes!

Works Great
Provides all the info I need. My RPM gauge is off so this provides accurate RPM’s. Also, there are some obstacles in the lake that I can program in the GPS to help with night boating. It was easy to install and connect with the hardware and instructions provided.

Simple install
Installed this on a 2017 crestliner storm with no gauges from factory. Mercury and YouTube installation videos say connect it to the engine and wrap it around the motor under the cowling, kinda tight fit in a 40 4 stroke..well they prewired my boat for gauges but didn't install, so I simply needed either a male to male adaptor or a 4 way smartcraft port to install this under my helm console. I went the 4 way port in case I ever want to add more stuff. Took 3 minutes to hook it together and 2 minutes to connect to the app. Just need a few more minutes to screw it in place and done. If all the smartcraft ports on your boat are full just buy one that has more ports and tuck the thing under your helm and your bluetooth now runs from the middle of the boat not the back. Showed motor hours, maintenance, and alerts by turning the key.

Mercury Vessel View
The installation is straightforward. Watch a YouTube video. Pair your phone with the Vessel View. I got this unit for the engine hours mainly. But the hole shot and history is very helpful. I will order a new prop after reviewing the information.

Works as needed
Works great with my 75hp mercury. Nice array of options to add to monitor. Make sure you put the cap back on the other pigtail. If not it won't connect. Learned the hard way, lol.

Does the job
I got this because it was cheaper than getting all the gauges, plus it gives fault or error codes (a separate reader is expensive apparently) and has other features like GPS marking (tho' I didn't have time to really play with it as it was cold and rainy the week I installed it). Installing was simple, their instructions made it seem more complex than it is. I installed on a 2014 60HP Bigfoot, the connector was right up front on top of the motor and there was room to tuck the unit up front and out of the way. Once installed it was a bit of a pain as my tablet (Samsung couldn't connect but after a couple of tries away it went). I do find that when I start the program I do get a message that the app is responding but simply click on one of options other than the close app and it starts. Where I am I have no internet so I skip the logon option. At 300$ it was cheaper than the gauges and code reader and as far as Im concerned cheap insurance. I have this motor on a 28ft pontoon boat so its not the easiest to haul out and take to the mechanic if its acting up.

Great and easy to use
It took about 3 minutes to install on our Mercury 150 HP. We can now see our fuel consumption, RPM and other metrics I wish we could see the trim but not essential. Since we have couple drivers it was important to be able to install on each other’s phone and share data. Well it does work as long as you all sign in with same credentials and voila! Let’s see now if the data follows us.. Great alternative over having to pass new cables…

Used on a 2008 200 optimax sport jet
My sport jet only had the purple “dust cap” on the oem harness so I had to buy the yellow terminator in order to get this to work. Was $26 for the terminator at local dealer

Easy to install. Saved me a trip to the dealer already (4 hrs towing total).
Easy to understand explanation of fault codes vs. the annoying beeps of the audio warning system which could mean mean many things. In my case it was an O2 sensor issue. Code details noted the ECU could not output a signal to the device. Given my motor only has 50 hrs on it, I didn’t think the actual sensor would be at fault so I went looking for an electrical problem. Turns out the fuse for this sensor had come loose so an easy fix. With just the audio warning systems 6 caution beeps I would have no clue where to start.

Made an error on installation initially, works now
Kept saying error, and for me to ensure the engine was turned on (which it was). I reinstalled and repeated the instruction for over an hour. Still could not get it to work. My error was not re-inserting the yellow cap onto the spot for it on the harness on the vessel view unit.... After that change everything worked
