AWESOME LIGHT

This is my second light, same model. I purchased my first from another company for $99.00. When I decided to get a second light for a different location, I decided to check Amazon and found this same model for half the price!! Easy to install, easy to adjust it to exactly how you want it to work but you have to READ the directions. It stays low lit dusk to dawn and if movement is detected it brightens to its full potential. I like the fact that it isn't "sight" activated but instead is like radar. It detects movement without "seeing" the movement. Both of mine are outdoors, under cover, front porch and garage. I got my first one 4 yrs ago and it still works perfectly.

Customer service makes all the difference! The story: I ordered two of these lights. I installed the first light in a closet. Basic installation was straightforward, assuming basic electrical skills. Once the wires were attached and he light secured to the ceiling, the light lit the closet beautifully. However, the light kept cycling on and off. After going through several frustrating hours of adjusting and fiddling with the controls, I called the customer service number included in the instructions. I talked with a very nice engineer who explained the workings of the microwave technology (it can sense movement through a door or wall on the higher sensitivity settings) and how to adjust the light. After our conversation, I adjusted the light again (this time to minimum sensitivity) to no avail; the light continued cycling on and off, no matter the setting. Then the light went on (pun intended). I remembered that I had a second light! I uninstalled the first light and installed the second light in its place. Success! This light looks and works great! As advertised, the light comes on when the door is opened and shuts itself off after the prescribed time. The only caveat is that the setting 'knobs' are a bit fiddly. However, they are no more fiddly than similar products. BTW, part of the reason that I tried these lights is because I have been unhappy with the infrared sensors in like products in the past. They do not actually sense movement; they sense changes in temperature. Thus, when the human body moves, the temperature of the surrounding air goes up and the switch turns the light on. Unfortunately, if you come into a warm room from a very cold environment (from outdoors in winter in Minnesota, for instance) the light sensor will not readily respond. Frustrating, at times! These lights actually sense movement, so they work better in my application. Your application may differ. Back to the customer service comment. I returned the defective light and ordered another to replace it. The day after I sent the defective light back to Amazon, the President of eesgi called to discuss the problem. I explained everything that I related above and he apologized for my inconvenience. WOW! That is service worth five stars! The light itself, though fiddly to adjust, also deserves the five stars, false start notwithstanding.

Tricky install, but bright and motion activated

I just installed this light to replace a pull-cord fixture since my closets have no wall switches. The light is great—bright and responsive to motion—but installation can be a bit tricky. This fixture has no wires that stick out, so you'll need to supply your own. The internal connection is nice: Just push a tab and insert the wire. There are three wire connections, but you'll only need the outside two with the N one for the neutral wire (common). There are two holes in the back to insert these wires. You'll also have to drill holes in the plastic for the screws to fit into the electrical box (the inner template locations match well). Once installed, there are four adjustments for allowing more sensitivity to motion, a longer delay, a dimming mode, and brightness. It takes some tweaking to get these right, but having these controls is nice. Now that all that is done, my closets are better lit and the light comes on when I enter and go off a few seconds after I walk out. Just what I wanted. The only other concern I have is that the LED panel is not meant to be replaced like a bulb, but it is big and bright and should last years. This unit is plastic so don't expect high design. It's simple, clean, and functional lighting. I'm happy enough that I bought a second one for my other closet.

Love these lights

Love these lights! I got 5 of them for my garage since its a big space and the door openers don't illuminate it well at night time. These are very bright and you can set them up to do just about anything. They have built in sensors for motion and darkness - as well as timers for how long they will stay on when triggered and a dimming function (if you want them to stay on at a low level). They took a bit to set up since I have 5 but they are super easy to adjust. I've had them in for about a month. I'll follow-up if any problems. I would have given them a 5 star rating if not for one thing - they look cheap and 'industrial'. Both the base and the cover are plastic. This works fine for my installation but I wouldn't use them inside my house or anywhere you want a 'designer' look. I almost sent them back based on this. But they worked so well that I kept them - function over form in this one.

This thing won't win any beauty contests, and the construction seems a bit flimsy, but given that it's an LED light, once it's up and you have made any required adjustments to the motion detector you will not have to fiddle with it much. The motion detector doesn't see you if you are standing directly beneath the fixture, so that can be an issue if you set the thing to turn off too quickly, but otherwise it works fine and it puts out a ton of light. I have it in a carport and it is way better than the spotlight-style lights most people seem to put in for that application.

works well

This works pretty well. It was easy to install. The instructions said it was supposed to come with a "hardware kit" of screws and wire nuts. That was missing, though there was a loose screw in the outer carton. However, I have lots of appropriate screws and wire nuts. You do need to drill screw holes in the case. That makes sense, since there are many ways to mount it, and having lots of holes would make it more sensitive to humidity. I'm still having trouble adjusting it, mostly because I need to pull out the ladder every time I want to turn the little dials.

Love this light.

This fixture puts out a bright white light that illuminates every corner of my 8X10 foot porch. We just leave the light switch on all the time and, if it's starting to get dark outside, as soon as you start to open the door the light will come on. I would have given it 5 stars but I was a little concerned over the quality of the wiring - it has very fine wires. My feed wire would not fit in the clips supplied so I had to use a marrette and join it to my existing wire, which was way bigger.
